Loewe Stellar 42 DR+ OLED TV, alu matt (Vidaa)

The Loewe Stellar 42 DR+ is a 42-inch OLED TV with a matte aluminium housing, an aluminium frame and a 144 Hz panel – a 360° design object that looks built, not assembled, from every side.

Not a faceless plastic block, but craftsmanship: a neatly brushed aluminium back panel, clean cable management and the understated Magic Light light concept. Developed and manufactured at Loewe's headquarters in Germany.

Why the Loewe Stellar 42 DR+?

Because OLED picture, gaming speed and genuine material come together here. The 4K OLED panel delivers the deep, light-free black level of OLED, cleanly tuned at the factory – with 144 Hz and VRR, also for fast games and sport. The matte aluminium reduces reflections in the room and keeps your eyes on the picture.

What you get

Four full-featured HDMI 2.1 inputs accommodate console, PC and playback devices without swapping cables, and the integrated 1 TB SSD DR+ recorder records silently and freezes the running programme. Plus an active 80 W sound system that delivers honest punch for a living room of this size – no need for an instant soundbar. The 360° design keeps the back so clean that the Stellar also looks good standing freely in the room.

Who is the Stellar 42 DR+ suitable for?

For design and gaming fans who want a compact OLED with a matte aluminium look and 144 Hz – on the table stand or standing freely in the room. In plain terms: an OLED of this calibre carries some weight. If you constantly rearrange your TV or want to hang it on a thin plasterboard wall, this isn't for you – the Stellar wants a solid spot or our professional installation.

Our verdict

The Stellar 42 DR+ is the compact OLED for anyone who takes technology and material equally seriously: a brilliant picture, 144 Hz for gaming and a clean aluminium design. Honestly – a TV that delivers a good picture even switched off.

Awarded: iF Design Award 2024 and Red Dot Design Award for the stellar design.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Loewe Stellar 42 DR+ good for gaming?
Yes. The OLED panel runs at 144 Hz with VRR, plus four HDMI 2.1 inputs and ALLM. Console, PC and playback device stay connected at the same time, so there's no swapping cables. For fast shooters, sports and racing games, the picture stays smooth and sharp.

Is the built-in sound enough, or do I need a soundbar?
For most living rooms the active 80 W sound system is enough and delivers honest punch – you can skip the soundbar. If you want home cinema or music at a higher level, you add an active or MOON solution. We're happy to work out with you what suits your room.

Which operating system does the Stellar 42 DR+ use?
The Stellar 42 DR+ runs Loewe os9 on a Vidaa base (Vidaa U9). Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV+ and YouTube are built in directly and respond quickly, with no extra box at all. Via antenna, cable, satellite and home network it also runs completely without a streaming subscription.

Can I record programmes with the Stellar 42 DR+?
Yes. The integrated DR+ recorder with 1 TB SSD records silently and pauses the running programme via timeshift. With the dual tuner (DVB-T2/C/S2) you can record and watch something else at the same time – so you don't miss anything when life gets in the way.

Why buy the Loewe Stellar 42 DR+ from HD Zürisee?
Because a design piece of this calibre deserves more than a box at your door. As an authorised Loewe specialist retailer in Wädenswil, we deliver, set it up or mount it, and configure channels, apps and the recorder – including 5 years of on-site warranty and our technician Mauri backing you up.
