Loewe antares 65 OLED TV, Black

The Loewe antares 65 is a 4K OLED TV with a 164 cm (65″) screen diagonal, whose panel Loewe individually calibrates at its own factory in Kronach.

As the largest model of the three most popular antares sizes, it brings the full home cinema format into the living room without giving up the slim widescreen look and interchangeable onlays of its smaller siblings. A TV that, even switched off, is more a piece of furniture than a technology block.

Why the antares 65?

Because here you get a combination that rarely lives in the same housing: a factory-calibrated OLED panel with all relevant HDR formats and a design made for the room, rather than just placed in it. The onlays in alu brushed are fitted at the factory, with a second pair in alu black included – switching them takes minutes, not a workshop appointment. That a 65-incher can be elegant and doesn't have to look like a black hole on the wall is something the antares proves along the way.

What you see and hear

Deep OLED black, natural colours and calm, cinema-grade motion – thanks to up to around 1500 cd/m² peak brightness, this also works during the day in a bright living room. Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ Adaptive automatically adjust the picture to your ambient light. Loewe os9, based on VIDAA U9, brings Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, YouTube and Spotify right along with it, plus AirPlay and Miracast for casting throughout the house. Sound comes from the integrated Loewe invisible sound system with Dolby Atmos – invisibly built in, but well audible in everyday use. Anyone who wants more can add the optional soundbar antares or use Center-In for a home cinema setup with the TV as the centre channel.

Who is the antares 65 suited for? (and who it isn't — plain talk)

For anyone who wants a 65-incher that takes picture quality and living-room design equally seriously – and that, thanks to HDMI 2.1 with 144 Hz VRR, also handles PS5 or Xbox with ease. Plain talk: if you're simply looking for the cheapest 65-inch OLED, there are cheaper routes to this picture. With the antares 65 you're paying for the calibrated made-in-Germany panel, the modular design and the longevity – not for a pure spec-sheet bargain.

Our verdict

The antares 65 is the most balanced of the range: big enough for home cinema, bright enough for a bright living room, and built so it still looks good in a few years – inside and out. A TV to keep, not to replace soon.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Loewe antares 65 a genuine 4K OLED?
Yes. The antares 65 uses an OLED panel that Loewe individually calibrates in Kronach – with true pixel black, full contrast and 4K resolution including Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ Adaptive. Not an LCD with local dimming, but a display where every pixel switches off its own light – hence the deep black especially in dark film scenes.

How bright is the antares 65 – is that enough for a bright living room?
Yes. The panel reaches up to around 1500 cd/m² peak brightness, which is well above the roughly 800 cd/m² of the smaller 42- and 48-inch models. Even with daylight coming through the window, the HDR picture stays high-contrast and clearly visible instead of washing out against backlight.

Is the antares 65 suitable for gaming?
Yes, very much so. HDMI 2.1 delivers 4K at up to 144 Hz with VRR and ALLM, plus the low response time typical of OLED. PS5, Xbox Series X and a gaming PC all benefit equally from the large, fluid picture area – with no need for a separate gaming monitor alongside it.

Do I need a streaming subscription for the antares 65?
No. The TV also runs completely without a paid subscription – via antenna, cable or satellite, USB recording and local media on the home network. Streaming services like Netflix or Spotify come pre-installed via Loewe os9, but they're an option, not a requirement for daily use.

Can I record TV with the antares 65 and watch at the same time?
Yes. Thanks to Loewe dual channel with a double triple tuner, you record a programme to USB while watching a different channel, and pause live TV with timeshift. Scheduling works conveniently via the electronic programme guide (EPG) – with no extra set-top box needed.
