The Loewe antares 48 is a 4K OLED TV with a 121 cm (48″) screen diagonal, whose panel Loewe individually calibrates at its own factory in Kronach.

It's the most compact 4K OLED in the antares line-up, and therefore the natural choice for rooms where a 55- or 65-incher would simply be too big – home office, bedroom, smaller living room or second set. Design and technology are the same as in the larger models: slim widescreen look, interchangeable onlays, hidden cable routing.

Why the antares 48?

Because a small screen is no reason to compromise on OLED. Loewe calibrates every panel individually at the Kronach factory – the same care as with the large antares models, just packaged compactly. Add to that HDMI 2.1 with 144 Hz VRR, the modular design with spare onlays included, and an operating system that doesn't get sluggish after five updates. Anyone who thinks a 48-incher is automatically half the equipment simply hasn't put the antares 48 next to one yet.

What you see and hear

True OLED black, fine colour gradations and calm motion – thanks to Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ Adaptive, the picture automatically adjusts to your ambient light. Loewe os9, based on VIDAA U9, brings Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, YouTube and Spotify right along with it, plus AirPlay and Miracast for casting from your phone or Mac. Sound comes from the integrated Loewe invisible sound system with Dolby Atmos – small in the housing, but not entirely invisible in effect. For the big movie night, the optional soundbar antares or an external system via HDMI eARC is welcome to lend a hand.

Who is the antares 48 suited for? (and who it isn't — plain talk)

For anyone who wants genuine OLED in a compact footprint: in the home office, bedroom, kitchen, or as a very good second TV alongside a larger living-room set. Plain talk: if you're after a home-cinema feeling at three metres' seating distance, you're better served by the antares 55 or 65 – 48 inches stays 48 inches, however good the panel is. And if you only watch TV occasionally and never open a menu, you're paying more for calibration and design than you'll use.

The antares 48 is not a stripped-down entry model, but the same ambition in a smaller format – thought through consistently for rooms that can't take a 55-incher. Small in size, big in ambition: if you need the size, you get full OLED quality here, no ifs or buts.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Loewe antares 48 a genuine 4K OLED?
Yes. The antares 48 uses an OLED panel that Loewe individually calibrates at the Kronach factory – with true pixel black, full contrast and 4K resolution including Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ Adaptive. Technically the same panel quality as the larger antares models, just scaled down to 48 inches.

How bright is the panel compared to the larger antares models?
The antares 48 reaches around 800 cd/m² peak brightness – like the antares 42, but below the roughly 1500 cd/m² of the 55- and 65-inch models. For a bedroom, home office or evening viewing that's more than enough; for a very bright living room during the day, we'd rather recommend the larger models.

Do I need a streaming subscription for the antares 48?
No. Classic TV via DVB-T2/C/S2, USB recording and playback from the home network work completely without a subscription. Netflix, Disney+ and other services come pre-installed via Loewe os9 – that's an option, not a must. Even entirely without a subscription you get full picture quality and all the basic functions.

Is 48 inches too small for a normal living room?
Depends on the room and seating distance. At around two to three metres' distance, 48 inches looks perfectly big enough; only at greater distances or with genuine home-cinema ambitions do 55 or 65 inches pay off. Just tell us your room dimensions and we'll advise you on the right size.

Can the antares 48 record and use timeshift?
Yes. Thanks to Loewe dual channel with a double triple tuner, you record programmes onto a USB drive while watching a different channel, and pause live TV with timeshift. Scheduling works conveniently via the electronic programme guide (EPG) – with no separate recording box or extra subscription needed.
