Eversolo DMP-A8 Gen 2 Network Streamer, Black
Couldn't load pickup availability
The Eversolo DMP-A8 Gen 2 in black is a network streamer with AKM converters and a fully balanced R2R preamp, operated via an 8.6-inch touchscreen.
The second generation relies on an octa-core processor with 8 GB of RAM, the AuralEngine audio processing and faster WiFi 6.
Why the DMP-A8 Gen 2?
Because it elegantly combines streamer, DAC and preamp while relying on current technology. AK4499EXEQ and AK4191EXEQ handle the conversion, supported by an OPA1612 and two low-phase-noise clocks. PCM up to 768 kHz/32 bit and native DSD512 are possible. On the network side, WiFi 6, Gigabit LAN, an SFP port and Bluetooth 5.4 are available. Evotune Pro room correction, a 20-band equalizer and a Wake-on-LAN function are included.
What you hear
The options to adapt the signal to your room make themselves noticeable. Room correction and the equalizer are meant as tools, not as an obligation. How much of it you use is up to you.
Who is the DMP-A8 Gen 2 for?
For music lovers who want to listen to streaming and network music in high quality and use room adaptation. Plain and simple: a headphone output is not listed in the data sheet, and no CD drive is built in. If you play CDs, look at the DMP-A8 Master Gen 2.
Our verdict
The DMP-A8 Gen 2 is a solid streamer with plenty of future-proofing. The combination of converters, preamp and software is coherent and aimed at demanding listeners. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil, we are happy to advise you on suitable additions.
