The Dynavox interchangeable record cover frame MDF in oak is a wall frame in LP format with a light wood-look decor, in which record covers can be swapped via a slide-in slot.
The manufacturer lists this version as a light wood decor; in the living room, people simply call it an oak look. The effect is the same either way: a warm border that doesn't make your cover look like an exhibit, but like something that's always belonged right there.
Why the interchangeable frame in oak look?
Because light wood is what most living rooms already have: oak flooring, a natural-wood shelf, a dining table. The frame falls in line with that instead of jutting out of the wall as a black rectangle. Covers with a lot of white, pastel, or black-and-white photography come across especially well – the wood gives them the warmth the print sometimes lacks.
What you get
A slide-in frame made of MDF, 336 × 336 millimeters outside, with a 15 millimeter frame width. Plus 1.2 millimeter thick polystyrene panes instead of glass – accordingly light and shatterproof. The 306 × 306 millimeter visible area shows almost all of your cover, and covers up to about 6 millimeters thick fit inside. At around 590 grams, the frame hangs on even a thin wall without drama.
Who is the interchangeable frame for?
For you, if light furniture sets the tone in the room and a black frame would feel too harsh. Straight talk: this is a wood decor on MDF, not grown oak – nobody notices from two meters away, but they will from thirty centimeters. If you hang several frames side by side, know that the grain pattern repeats. And covers over 6 millimeters stay out.
Our verdict
The warmer half of the duo. If you're torn between black and oak, it's not the frame that decides, but your room: wood goes with wood, black goes with a clean edge. And if you really can't decide, mix them – a gallery wall handles both surprisingly well.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the frame made of real oak?
No, the frame is made of MDF with a light wood decor in an oak look. This keeps things light and dimensionally stable, doesn't warp in a normally heated living room, and looks convincingly like wood on the wall. Up close, though, don't expect it to pass for solid wood.
Does every 12-inch cover fit inside?
Yes, as long as it's standard size. The visible area measures 306 × 306 millimeters, the outer size 336 × 336 millimeters – so a few millimeters of the cover disappear all around under the frame rim. You won't notice this in everyday use. Oversized special formats and boxsets with a slipcase, on the other hand, fall outside the norm.
Can I mix oak and black?
Yes, both versions share identical dimensions, so they line up cleanly on the same level. A gallery wall alternating light and dark frames looks livelier than a row that's all the same. If you prefer things calmer, stick to one colour and let the covers provide the variety – that's what they're there for, after all.
