DALI — «Danish Audiophile Loudspeaker Industries» — is a Danish speaker manufacturer that has, since 1983, focused on a relaxed, natural sound with wide dispersion and high efficiency.

Behind that is a design decision: many DALI models combine a soft-dome tweeter with a ribbon tweeter. This produces an open sound picture that still holds up even if you're not sitting exactly in the sweet spot — handy for living rooms that aren't built around a single armchair.

How to choose a DALI

The question is rarely which series is the best, but which one fits your room. For smaller rooms and second systems, the compact models are right — found under Bookshelf speakers, plus matching speaker stands. From about 20 square metres up, floorstanding speakers bring noticeably more depth. For film and multi-channel, wall speakers and a subwoofer round out the front.

Which DALI series fits my room?

Roughly by area: bookshelf models for rooms up to about 20 square metres, floorstanding speakers above that, the large series for generous living spaces. But more important than square metres is the setup — distance from the wall, seating position, furnishing. Tell us the key facts, and we'll narrow it down to two or three models.

Are DALI speakers picky about amplifiers?

Generally not. DALI builds benign load curves and decent efficiency, so the models run cleanly on many amplifiers. With the large series, decent power still pays off so the bass keeps control at all times. We'll work out which combination makes sense with you before you buy.
