Sangean DPR-76BT DAB+ Radio with Bluetooth, Light Blue

The Sangean DPR-76BT is a portable DAB+/FM radio with Bluetooth that combines digital radio, headphone output and a Bluetooth speaker in one handy case.

In Light Blue it brings a touch of summer, even if the sky outside disagrees. It is meant for the garden table, the kitchen or the park bench: small enough for a jacket pocket, with a large backlit display that stays readable in the half-dark.

Why the DPR-76BT?

Because it offers the radio functions you really use outdoors: DAB+ and FM with RDS and station presets, Bluetooth 5.0 with NFC pairing, a headphone output and a clock. The newly designed battery compartment detects faulty cells and shows you where they sit. It runs on four AA cells or the mains adapter.

What you hear

Clear speech and music from the 2¼-inch speaker, deliberately made for the near field. Over Bluetooth the radio becomes a small speaker for your own playlist. If you prefer to keep it to yourself, plug in headphones.

Who is the DPR-76BT for?

For anyone looking for a handy digital radio for on the go and at home: garden, balcony, workshop, holiday flat. Plainly put: at 0.5 watts it is a near-field radio, not a party speaker. If you want to fill a whole room, choose a larger model.

Our verdict

The DPR-76BT is an uncomplicated travel radio with a modern interior: DAB+, Bluetooth and a headphone jack at a fair price. Unsure about model or colour? Frequently asked questions

Does the Sangean DPR-76BT receive DAB+ and FM?

Yes, both. The DPR-76BT has a tuner for DAB+ (digital radio) and classic FM with RDS and station presets. You are not tied to one way of receiving, and you need no subscription for it.

Does the radio run on batteries?

Yes. It works with four AA cells or on the 7.5 V mains adapter. The battery compartment detects faulty cells and shows their position when the radio is plugged in on standby. No more guessing which battery is to blame.

Can I play music from my phone over Bluetooth?

Yes. Over Bluetooth 5.0 (A2DP) you stream music from a smartphone or tablet, and pairing also works via NFC. You need no paid subscription for it, your own music collection or podcasts work too.

Does the DPR-76BT have a headphone output?

Yes, it has a stereo headphone output. That lets you listen to radio or Bluetooth music just for yourself without disturbing others. Handy on the train, in the garden or when someone is sleeping next door.

Is the DPR-76BT loud enough for a whole room?

No, it is a near-field radio. With 0.5 watts and a 2¼-inch speaker it covers a desk, kitchen or garden table, not a whole living room. For more level we recommend a larger table radio.
