The Canton Power Sub 10 S2 is an active subwoofer with a built-in amplifier that, as the mid-size model in the Power Sub S2 series, delivers noticeably more foundation than the compact 8-inch model, without turning into a piece of furniture.

No wireless, no smart pairing – just plug in an RCA or speaker cable, and the 257 mm driver with passive radiator delivers the low end that bookshelf and floor-standing speakers often lack. 330 watts of music power, black finish, sold individually.

Why the Canton Power Sub 10 S2?

The Sub 10 S2 is the answer for anyone who finds the Sub 8 S2 too small and the Sub 12 S2 too big. The 257 mm driver with aluminium-titanium cone fires forward, while an additional passive radiator fires downward – more cone area than the 8-inch model, yet still a cabinet that doesn't take up half the room. The built-in amplifier delivers 200 watts rated and 330 watts music power, and the three-step room correction compensates for rough placement mistakes right on the unit.

What you get

  • Active subwoofer with built-in amplifier: 200 W rated power, 330 W music power
  • 257 mm woofer (aluminium-titanium, wave surround) with additional passive radiator, downfire
  • Crossover frequency continuously adjustable from 50 to 200 Hz
  • Three-step room correction
  • High-level and low-level inputs plus low-level output
  • Automatic on/off switching
  • Height-adjustable feet, spike-ready
  • Black decor cabinet

Who is the Canton Power Sub 10 S2 for?

Bottom line: the Sub 10 S2 suits stereo and home cinema setups in medium to larger living rooms up to about 35 square metres. If you're only sonically filling a small room, you're buying more subwoofer than you need here – the 8-inch model is enough. If you want to fill an open living-dining area with authority, though, you're usually better served here than with the smallest model in the series.

Our verdict

The middle ground of the Power Sub S2 series hits exactly the right compromise between foundation and size for most Swiss living rooms. Our specialist team in Wädenswil helps you choose the right size between 8, 10 and 12 inches for your room, rather than simply reaching for the most expensive model.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Power Sub 10 S2 match my speakers?

In almost all cases, yes. With its crossover frequency adjustable from 50 to 200 Hz and its high-level and low-level inputs, it fits practically any stereo or home cinema system, whether bookshelf or floor-standing speakers are in front of it. Tell us what you have, and we'll tell you if the combination is right.

How big can the room be for the Power Sub 10 S2?

With its 257 mm driver and 330 watts of music power, it plays confidently in medium to larger living rooms up to about 35 square metres too. For open-plan spaces or consistently high levels, we recommend the 12-inch model – better a bit of headroom than a subwoofer working flat out.

Where's the best place to put the Power Sub 10 S2?

Thanks to the downfire passive radiator, placement isn't critical, though being near a wall or in a corner adds extra bass. The three-step room correction compensates for a lot of that. Moving it a few centimetres often achieves more than any dial turn – or call us and we'll work through it together.

Power Sub 8 S2, 10 S2 or 12 S2 – what's the difference?

All three work on the same principle but differ in driver size and music power: 219 mm and 280 watts for the 8-inch, 257 mm and 330 watts for the 10-inch, 308 mm and 380 watts for the 12-inch. The larger the room or the more level you want, the more the next size up pays off.

Why buy the Canton Power Sub 10 S2 from HD Zürisee?

Because a subwoofer only truly delivers its foundation with the right size and placement. Our specialist team knows the differences between 8, 10 and 12 inches from practical experience, not just from a datasheet, and technician Mauri can dial in your sub on-site if you like. Call us or write to us in Wädenswil.

Goes well with

Matching bookshelf speakers or floor-standing speakers to lead up front, the right subwoofer cable for the connection, and more home cinema speakers if stereo should grow into more.
