The AudioQuest Monsoon is a three-pole power cable from the Wind series that goes well beyond NRG-class performance with Perfect-Surface Copper conductors and patented ground-noise dissipation.
With the Monsoon, AudioQuest's true upper class begins. The Wind series sits between the affordable NRG cables and the large Storm series – and the Monsoon is its entry point. No DBS, but everything else that defines the series.
Why the Monsoon?
Because for the first time at this price point, three things come together. The conductors are Perfect-Surface Copper+ and Long-Grain Copper in a true concentric arrangement, which keeps interaction between strands and magnetic clutter low. ZERO-Tech ensures the cable presents no characteristic impedance to the current between 50 Hz and 1 MHz – load peaks arrive uncompressed. And the patented ground-noise dissipation pulls high-frequency dirt specifically out of the signal path. The connectors are direct gold-plated and cold-welded.
What you get
Above all, composure. The soundstage grows larger while also getting quieter, the bass gains authority rather than just quantity, and loud passages lose their tension. Coming from the NRG-Z3, you'll notice it less in extra detail than in the ease with which the system operates.
Who is the Monsoon suited for?
For integrated amplifiers, high-quality source components, power conditioners and moderately sized power amps with a C13 input. Plainly put: on an entry-level chain, the effort is misplaced – you're better off investing in speakers or setup there. And if your power amp has a larger C19 socket, you'll need the corresponding version; just let us know and we'll sort it out.
Our verdict
The Monsoon is the point where a power cable upgrade stops being a matter of taste. It brings real, nameable technology and works very visibly in well-built systems. Honestly: if you're still on the bundled cable at this stage, you're leaving potential on the table that you paid dearly for elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions
Where does the Wind series sit in AudioQuest's lineup?
Between the NRG series and the Storm series. It sets itself apart below by using better conductor material, a larger cross-section and patented ground-noise dissipation; above it, it lacks the solid-core conductors of the Storm cables. The Monsoon is the entry point into this well-balanced middle tier.
Does the Monsoon have a Dielectric-Bias System?
No. Within the Wind series, the active 72-volt DBS only starts with the Blizzard, and it's also found in the Storm series. Instead, the Monsoon relies on ZERO-Tech and ground-noise dissipation – the load-bearing basis of the series, without a battery module on the cable.
What's the deal with ground-noise dissipation?
The earth of a power grid is rarely clean; it picks up high frequency from everything connected in the house. AudioQuest routes this dirt away through a dedicated structure inside the cable instead of letting it flow into the device. The process is patented and a core feature of the larger series.
C13 or C19 – which version do I need?
That's decided by the socket on your device. C13 is the common IEC connector and fits the vast majority of amplifiers and sources. C19 is considerably larger and sits on powerful power amps and power conditioners. This listing is the C13 version.
