The Atoll IN300 Evolution is an analog stereo integrated amplifier in true dual-mono construction, delivering 2×150 watts at 8 ohms and upgradable with phono and DAC cards.

It's the second generation of a unit that stood as the benchmark in its class for years — and the successor doesn't break anything, it tidies up.

Why the IN300 Evolution?

Because of what you don't see. Two 440 VA toroidal transformers, twelve smoothing capacitors totalling 86,150 µF, a power stage built from MOSFETs in triple push-pull, each channel with its own power supply right down to the rectifier. Sixteen kilograms, most of which goes into the power supply. The result is an amplifier that doesn't buckle at 4 ohms but steps up to 2×260 watts.

What you'll hear

Control. The IN300 Evolution grabs speakers by the scruff of the neck and doesn't let go — the bass is dry rather than thick, the midrange is open without harshness, and at higher levels exactly what should happen, happens: nothing. No congestion, no hardening. Five RCA inputs, one XLR input, and a home cinema bypass are all there, plus two pre-outs for a subwoofer or bi-amping.

Who is the IN300 Evolution for?

For anyone with demanding speakers and a larger room — and for anyone who wants to buy an amplifier they'll still have in ten years. Plain talk: it doesn't come with streaming, and the digital inputs are an option card, not standard equipment. If you want a network source in the same chassis, the SDA300 Signature is the better fit. And in a small room with high-efficiency speakers, you'll be running it in the first quarter of the dial — that's waste, not virtue.

Our verdict

A brute of an amplifier, and a well-mannered one at that. On 3 May 2025, LowBeats awarded it an overall verdict of "outstanding" (4.5 out of 5) and wrote: "For a long time, the IN300 was a benchmark for us in the upper class of integrated amplifiers. The 'Evolution' is one again — partly because output above 250 watts per channel is anything but normal in this class." Honestly: if your speakers have never really opened up before, it's often not their fault. Frequently asked questions

How much power does the Atoll IN300 Evolution have?
2×150 watts at 8 ohms and 2×260 watts at 4 ohms. The triple push-pull MOSFET power stage is fed by two 440 VA toroidal transformers and 86,150 µF of smoothing capacitance. You'll notice these reserves especially with difficult speakers and bass transients.

Does the Atoll IN300 Evolution have a built-in DAC?
Not as standard. The digital inputs come via the DA100 or DA200 option card, which can be retrofitted at any time. The DA200 brings two coaxial and two optical inputs, USB-B, and a Bluetooth receiver. We'll install it for you.

Can I connect a turntable to the IN300 Evolution?
Yes, with the right phono card. The P50 turns the AUX input into an MM input, and the P100 can also handle MC with switchable termination impedance. Without a card, you'll need an external phono preamp such as the Atoll PH100 or PH200.

Does the IN300 Evolution have a headphone output?
Yes, a 6.35 mm jack on the front. That's more than enough for an evening on headphones. Anyone running very high-impedance or particularly demanding headphones is better off sonically with a dedicated headphone amplifier.

Why buy the Atoll IN300 Evolution at HD Zürisee?
Because this amplifier needs speakers that can actually draw on its reserves. We'll tell you honestly which combination is worthwhile, retrofit a phono or DAC card for you, and deliver and install it at your home. Service runs through our own technician.

Pairs well with

It wants demanding speakers: floorstanding speakers or larger bookshelf speakers. As a source, a streamer, a CD player, or a turntable all fit — plus the right cables.
