Advance Paris X-A600 Stereo Power Amplifier

The Advance Paris X-A600 is a stereo power amplifier with 2×200 watts into 8 ohms that, in High Bias mode, amplifies the first watts smoothly in Class A.

Why the X-A600?

In the multi-chamber, mutually shielded chassis sits the 700 VA transformer, flanked by six electrolytic capacitors totalling 60,000 µF. This short-term power reservoir is why brutal dynamic peaks arrive dry rather than soft. The magazine HiFi Test rated the X-A600 in 2022 with a score of 1.1 and placed it in the top class.

The High Bias switch on the rear lets the first watts run in sliding Class A – fine, direct, low in distortion. Above that, Class AB automatically takes over at full power. Advance Paris doesn't state a fixed wattage for the Class A range, instead speaking of "the first watts". And yes, the VU meters can be dimmed and even switched off. Honestly, though – who actually does that.

What you hear

On the measurement bench, the picture is clear: THD below 0.007 percent, signal-to-noise ratio 113 dB, channel separation 108 dB, frequency response from 10 Hz to 80 kHz. In practice, that translates into a power amp that doesn't interfere – it keeps bass drivers taut, lets voices stand clear, and stays composed even when your speakers' impedance drops into the basement. At 4 ohms, 2×300 watts are on tap.

Who is the X-A600 suited for?

For speakers nobody has really had under control so far, and for anyone who deliberately splits up their chain: preamp and power amp separate, each component upgradeable on its own.

To be clear, who it's not for: the X-A600 is a pure power amplifier – no volume control, no source selection, no remote control. Without a preamp or an integrated amplifier with pre-out, nothing happens. Your furniture needs to play along too: 46.4 cm of depth and 25 kg are a statement, and the heatsinks want air. Yes. The X-A600 is a pure power amplifier with no volume control and no source selection. The Advance Paris X-P700 or X-P1200 are an ideal match; thanks to switchable XLR and RCA inputs, however, any preamp or integrated amplifier with a pre-out will work.
