About the Swiss Black colour: This colour does not exist originally at Ruark Audio – the Swiss distributor has selected R-CD100 units hand-sprayed in black on request, usually to match existing black Ruark devices. This additional work step is also the reason why this variant is priced above the standard version in walnut/aluminium.
The Ruark Audio R-CD100 is a USB CD player designed as a source for the Ruark 100 series (R410, R610, R710, R810) and, connected via USB-C, automatically appears as a CD source in the system.
Streaming is practical – but sometimes you want to hold a disc in your hand, leaf through the booklet and simply press play. That's exactly what the R-CD100 is for: a slim, cleanly built slot-in drive that matches the 100 series perfectly in looks and slots in without any setup. Plug in, push a CD in, it plays.
Why the R-CD100?
The R-CD100 is not a generic USB drive, but built specifically for Ruark's 100 series. A slot-in mechanism takes the CD in silently; an optimised CD servo-to-USB interface hands the signal over to the R410, R610, R710 or R810. The actual conversion is handled by the music systems' own high-quality DACs – so the CD player delivers the best possible source material, without a second converter stage getting in the way. The acoustically isolated housing with precisely milled top and bottom plates keeps vibrations away from the drive.
It connects with the supplied USB-C cable – plug-and-play, USB 2.0/3.0. Once connected, “CD” appears as an additional source on your Ruark system's display. No configuring, no drivers.
What you get
A tactile, high-quality way of bringing your CD collection back into play – operated directly via your Ruark system and with the same material and design language as the rest of the 100 series. Slot-in instead of a tray, whisper-quiet in operation, compatible with CD-DA, CD-R and CD-RW.
Straight talk: the R-CD100 is deliberately not a standalone CD player. Without a current Ruark 100 series system (R410, R610, R710 or R810) it won't run – on third-party systems or the MK1 predecessors it doesn't work. But anyone who has exactly this Ruark ecosystem gets the most elegant CD solution for it.
Who is the R-CD100 for?
Ideal for anyone who already owns a Ruark R410, R610, R710 or R810 and wants their CDs back in matching looks and with seamless operation. A lovely, compact addition that you're happy to place next to the main system.
Who it isn't for: anyone looking for a universal CD player for any system is in the wrong place here – for that there are classic CD players with their own outputs. The R-CD100 is exclusively the CD partner of the Ruark 100 series.
Our verdict
The R-CD100 does exactly one thing, and does it right: it brings CDs into your Ruark 100 system stylishly and uncomplicatedly. Build quality, design and integration are impeccable – a small, fine accessory that complements a modern streaming system with the tactile joy of the silver disc. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil you get it matched to your R410, R610, R710 or R810 – we'll set up the connection right along with it.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Ruark R-CD100 work as a standalone CD player?
No. The R-CD100 is a source exclusively for the Ruark 100 series (R410, R610, R710, R810). It connects via USB-C, and the Ruark system handles the sound conversion. It doesn't work with other systems or the MK1 predecessors.
How is the R-CD100 connected?
With the supplied USB-C cable to the USB-C socket of your Ruark 100 system. Plug-and-play, without setup or drivers: once connected, “CD” appears as an additional source on the display. Push a disc in, and it starts automatically.
Which discs does the R-CD100 play?
The R-CD100 plays audio CDs (CD-DA) as well as self-burned CD-R and CD-RW. The slot-in mechanism takes the disc without a tray and runs whisper-quiet. It's conveniently controlled via the connected Ruark system.
Why does the Swiss Black variant cost more than the walnut/aluminium version?
Because black is not originally part of Ruark's colour range: the Swiss distributor has the R-CD100 hand-sprayed in Swiss Black on request, to match existing black Ruark devices. This additional work step explains the extra cost compared with the standard walnut/aluminium version.
Why buy the Ruark R-CD100 from HD Zürisee?
Because the R-CD100 only makes sense in combination with the right Ruark system – and that's exactly where we advise you.
