The NuPrime Evolution Stream Server is a music server hub that combines Roon Core, local libraries, and hi-res streaming noise-free in one device.

It's the uncompromising solution for anyone who wants to manage their entire music world without delay and with absolute signal purity – quiet in the rack instead of loud in the study.

Why the Evolution Stream Server?

Digital data is like a river – normally with eddies and impurities, known in engineering as jitter (timing errors in the clock) and EMI noise. The Stream Server works like a clinically clean filtration station: two dedicated TCXO clocks strangle jitter right at the Ethernet ports, EMI filters and a dedicated earth connection keep interference out. An Intel quad-core CPU with 32 gigabytes of RAM provides computing power without hiccups.

What you get

Particularly clever is the dedicated player port: its own subnet straight to the network player, so data packets flow without detours. The internal 250-gigabyte SSD is reserved exclusively for the VitOS operating system, minimising latency. The second-generation USB audio output protects your converter from digital noise with high-frequency filters and a clean 5-volt supply. The server serves up to ten players simultaneously – the perfect hub for demanding multiroom setups.

Who is the Stream Server for – and who isn't it for?

Ideal for anyone who runs Roon Core seriously and wants to manage their music centrally, quietly, and with clean sound. Straight talk: if you only occasionally listen to Spotify through a wireless speaker, you don't need this hub – that would be a concert grand for Happy Birthday. Tip from the workshop: expand local data via external USB drives; we leave the system SSD alone.

Our verdict

A specialised precision tool that addresses exactly where normal computers fail sonically: quiet, timing, and cleanliness. If you want Roon not on a noisy PC but as the heart of your hi-fi rack, you'll find a reference hub here. If you own an external master clock, the 10-megahertz clock input squeezes out even more precision.

Frequently asked questions

Can the Evolution Stream Server be used as Roon Core?
Yes, it's fully Roon-Core-capable. Thanks to the Intel quad-core CPU and 32 gigabytes of RAM, it handles even complex DSP calculations like upsampling to DSD effortlessly, without playback stuttering – and quietly in the rack instead of on a droning PC.

Why does the server have two Ethernet ports?
One port connects it to your home network. The second, the player port, is optimised exclusively for the direct connection to the network player and forms an isolated subnet. That way music data flows with minimal latency and top priority, undisturbed by other network traffic.

Do I need a paid subscription for the Stream Server?
No. You can manage and play local music libraries via USB hard drives, entirely without a subscription. Streaming services such as Tidal, Qobuz, or Spotify are an option through their native apps – not a must. As a Qobuz Hi-Fi partner, we're happy to set that up for you on request.

How is the Stream Server controlled?
Management runs via the VitOS Manager app for iOS and Android: installing apps, applying updates, organising local libraries. For actual listening you use Roon or the native streaming apps. We're happy to help with initial setup.

Why buy the NuPrime Evolution Stream Server at HD Zürisee?
Because a server is only as good as its integration. We know Roon, networking, and how it interacts with a DAC and streamer from practical experience, and we set up your chain cleanly. Our own technician, honest advice on multiroom and cabling. Call or write to us – also via WhatsApp.
