The Dynavox record inner sleeves are multi-layer protective sleeves made of antistatic HD polyethylene with a cushioning rice-paper interlayer that protect a 12-inch LP directly at the groove.

The sleeve that actually touches your record is the inner one — and on many pressings that's plain, unlined paper. That sands minimally across the groove every time you pull the record out and charges it up statically. That's exactly where Dynavox comes in.

Why lined inner sleeves?

The construction is three-layered: HD polyethylene on the outside, a cushioning layer of rice paper in the middle, HDPE again on the inside. The rice paper cushions, the antistatic HDPE lets the record glide instead of catch — the disc slides out without a trail of dust moving with it. Tear-, scratch- and wear-resistant, archival quality, which mainly means here: the sleeve outlasts your next stylus.

Who are the Dynavox inner sleeves for?

For anyone who buys used, scours flea markets, or has older pressings on the shelf — those almost always come with raw paper inside. Straight talk: if you own freshly pressed new copies that already ship with lined inner sleeves, you gain little. And a new sleeve doesn't turn a dirty record into a clean one; it only preserves the condition you give it. Clean first, then sleeve.

Frequently asked questions

Can I keep the original inner sleeve?

Yes, and many collectors do exactly that. The insert with lyrics and photos stays in the cover as an extra, while the record itself moves into the Dynavox sleeve. That way the whole package stays complete, without rough paper continuing to work against the groove. Collector's value is preserved.

What's the rice-paper interlayer for?

It cushions. Rice paper sits as a soft middle layer between two layers of HD polyethylene and absorbs pressure that would otherwise act directly on the groove — for example when records are packed tightly on a shelf. The HDPE outside and inside provides the antistatic, smooth surface at the same time.

Does a new inner sleeve replace cleaning the record?

No. A sleeve keeps new dust away, but it doesn't remove old dust — quite the opposite, it locks in existing dirt. So with used records, clean first, then sleeve. You'll find matching brushes and cleaning fluid with us in record cleaning. That's the order that really matters.
