It raises the sound sphere exactly where it belongs, and swallows the cables along with it. At 84 cm the coaxial system sits at ear height when you're in your armchair – the soundstage detaches from the sphere instead of sticking to the floor. Who is the Pearl stand suited for?

For anyone who places the Pearl freestanding in the room and takes it seriously. Bottom line: if you already have a solid piece of furniture at around 80 cm height, you can get by without it – the stand isn't a sonic miracle, it's the foundation that doesn't ruin the quality that's already there. If you'd rather mount the Pearl on the wall, or have little floor space, the wall mount suits you better. And for the smaller spheres in the family – Akoya, Myuki, Keshi – it doesn't fit: Cabasse offers its own items for those.

Our verdict

A stand that looks like a piece of furniture and works like a foundation. 15 kg, cable channels in both tubes, cleanly made – Cabasse hasn't cut corners on the accessories here. We at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil rarely set the Pearl up any other way, and there's a reason for that: on the right stand it comes across more assured than a 33 cm sphere would suggest.

You get one stand. Cabasse sells the Pearl stand individually, not as a pair – which matches the fact that the Pearl itself is a single speaker. So if you're building a stereo pair from two Pearls, you need two stands and order this item twice.

How are the cables routed?

Through the stand tubes. Both tubes have integrated cable routing, so nothing is visible from the speaker down to the floor. Since the Pearl is active and only needs power plus, optionally, a network cable, the wiring stays minimal anyway – the stand simply makes it invisible.
