Why the ACD APEX?

The special part sits behind the viewing window: the Raytheon 5744 tubes are rugged NOS miniature tubes, originally developed for military applications – long-lived, stable, and sonically exactly what sober digital technology benefits from. They refine both analog outputs, RCA as well as XLR. Conversion is handled by a WM8761 DAC with a linear frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz; the measurements (THD+N 0.005 %, signal-to-noise ratio −106 dBrA) show that no one here confuses warmth with imprecision.

Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs (both tube-refined, with fixed level), plus optical and coaxial digital outputs, in case you want to run the ACD APEX as a pure transport with an external DAC.
