The Vincent CD-600 is a solidLine 2.0 CD player that, thanks to its optical and coaxial digital inputs, can also be used as an external D/A converter.

It concentrates on the core job of a CD player: natural, calm sound at a high level. It leaves out streaming gimmicks – one drawer, one disc, music. Almost refreshingly old-fashioned.

Why the CD-600?

Because it gets the essentials right. An audio-optimised Sanyo drawer mechanism reads the disc, an ESS ES9038Q2M converter (24 bit / 192 kHz) converts, and four independent channel circuits with their own filter, amplifier and buffer stages keep the signal clean according to the manufacturer. Output is via RCA or balanced via XLR – the more elegant solution for longer cable runs and balanced amplifiers.

What you get

  • CD player with audio-optimised Sanyo drawer mechanism
  • ESS ES9038Q2M D/A converter, 24 bit / 192 kHz
  • Usable as an external converter: optical and coaxial digital input
  • Analogue output in RCA and balanced XLR, plus optical and coaxial digital output
  • Headphone socket with level control on the front
  • Dimmable display
  • Power control connection for use with Vincent amplifiers

Who is the CD-600 for?

For anyone who takes their CD collection seriously and wants a no-frills CD player that makes a visual and technical pair with the Vincent SV-600. Through its digital inputs it also brings a TV or streamer into the converter stage.

Honestly: the CD-600 doesn't stream by itself and has no USB input – it plays CDs and converts whatever you feed it via Toslink or coax. If you only stream and never insert a CD, you're better served by a network streamer.

Our verdict

The CD-600 is a consistently built CD player: a good mechanism, a modern converter, a balanced output and a headphone socket, without overwhelming you with functions. Together with the SV-600 integrated amplifier it forms the new solidLine 2.0. Whether it suits your system, we're happy to clarify. Frequently asked questions

Can the Vincent CD-600 also serve as an external D/A converter?
Yes. Through the optical and coaxial digital inputs you connect a TV, streamer or other digital sources. The CD-600 converts the signal and outputs it in analogue. That makes it the digital hub of your system, even when there is no disc in the drawer.

Does the CD-600 have a headphone output?
Yes. On the front there is a headphone socket with its own level control, handy for a late listening session without the big system. For demanding headphones a separate headphone amplifier is worthwhile. We're happy to advise you on that. You set the level conveniently right on the front.

Which connections does the CD-600 have?
In analogue it outputs the signal via RCA and balanced via XLR, in digital via one optical and one coaxial output. In addition there are two digital inputs (optical and coaxial) and a power control connection for use with Vincent amplifiers. There is no USB input and no streaming functions.

Does the CD-600 go with the Vincent SV-600?
Yes, both belong to the solidLine 2.0 and are visually matched. Technically the CD-600 fits any amplifier with an RCA or XLR input. With the SV-600 you can even use the balanced XLR connection, as both units have XLR connectors. We're happy to advise you on the right cable.
