Projectors

A good projector turns any free wall into a cinema screen – without needing a dedicated home cinema room. At HD Zürisee you'll find compact 4K laser projectors for a spontaneous movie night as well as powerful models for a fixed home cinema with a large image diagonal.

What matters in a projector

Three values decide the picture: the light output (in ANSI lumens) determines how bright your room may stay, the resolution (today mostly 4K UHD) the sharpness on a large surface, and the throw ratio how far the projector has to stand from the wall. Then there's the light source: laser projectors like the current Leica models deliver rich colours without the colour-wheel rainbow effect and last significantly longer than classic lamp projectors.

Honestly speaking

A projector doesn't replace a TV for a bright living room in the afternoon – for the really big cinema picture, a bit of light discipline in the room pays off, whether through curtains or the evening twilight. If you bring that, you get a picture that no TV of this size can deliver.

Frequently asked questions

Do I absolutely need a screen?

No, modern 4K laser projectors also project sharply onto a bright, smooth wall. For maximum colour fidelity and an even contrast across the full image size, we still recommend a projector screen for larger diagonals.

How much space do I need for a projector?

That depends on the throw ratio of the respective model – short throw ratios allow a large image even from a small distance to the wall. We'll gladly work this out concretely for your room.
