Collection: Optical Cables (Toslink)

An optical cable (Toslink) transmits the digital signal as a pulse of light and galvanically isolates sender and receiver – ideal when two devices would otherwise interfere via a ground loop.

At HD Zürisee you'll find Toslink cables from AudioQuest (Pearl to Vodka, in several lengths) and ViaBlue, for connecting a CD player, TV or streamer to a DAC or amplifier. The higher the quality of the fibre, the less scatter loss on the light path – audible mainly with longer cable runs or particularly resolving systems. For very long runs, or the very last word in precision, experienced listeners tend to reach for coaxial cable or AES/EBU cable instead – Toslink nonetheless remains the most hassle-free, hum-free solution for most everyday cases.
