Collection: Music Servers

Music servers – your private music library in an audiophile vault

Should your CD collection gather dust in the cupboard? Absolutely not. With a music server you rip your discs to a hard drive and stream them lossless throughout the whole house – no computer, no cloud subscription, just your music, your control. And if you also use Spotify, Tidal or Qobuz at the same time, that's no problem either.

We carry music servers from Bluesound (Vault 2i), Silent Angel (Rhein Z1C, Rhein Z1 Plus) and NuPrime (Evolution Stream Server) – compact all-rounders as well as audiophile reference devices with high-end power supplies. Get advice on which model suits your setup and your collection.

Frequently asked questions about music servers

What is a music server?
A device that stores your music (often with a built-in hard drive), rips CDs and streams them over the network to your HiFi system. Completely self-contained, with no computer needing to run.

Do I need a PC for it?
No – that's the whole point. A music server is self-contained and is controlled via an app. Once set up, you don't have to worry about anything else.

Can I also use streaming services?
Many music servers combine a local library and streaming services in one app. Bluesound, for example, brings BluOS, Silent Angel works with Roon, MConnect and many other apps.

How much storage do I need?
Rule of thumb: around 500 MB per CD in lossless format. So 2 TB is enough for about 4000 CDs. Anyone collecting DSD or hi-res files should plan for more accordingly.
