Revival Audio Atalante 7 Évo Floorstanding Speaker, Macassar (Pair)

The Revival Audio Atalante 7 Évo is the top model of the Atalante series: a large 3-way floorstanding speaker with a 38 cm basalt woofer that plays at listening height on its own Smart Isolation stand. "Évo" stands for the latest driver generation from the Alsatian manufacturer – designed by a team with roots at Dynaudio and Focal, now in the new Macassar finish, with golden-ratio proportions from the Parisian studio A+A Cooren.

Why the Atalante 7 Évo?

At the centre is a 38 cm woofer (15 inch) with a basalt sandwich diaphragm (BSC) and a 3-inch voice coil. With bass, displacement can't be replaced by anything – and 38 centimetres is a lot of displacement. It reaches down to 23 hertz and stays fundamental and dry rather than bloated. Above it work the new Évo drivers: a 75 mm RASC Évo midrange dome with ARID Plus and dual suspension for full-bodied voices, plus a 28 mm RASC Évo tweeter with neodymium drive for silky, fatigue-free highs. The front-mounted AeroVex port with aluminium flange ensures clean, flow-calm low-frequency output. Nothing here comes off the shelf: Revival builds its drivers itself.

What you hear

Effortless size. The Atalante 7 Évo plays with a composure and calm that smaller speakers simply don't reach – and when it lets loose, the main thing left to do is grin. The bass is physically tangible, yet controlled; voices and instruments stand vividly and palpably in the room; the highs resolve finely without ever becoming sharp. It makes big music big – live recordings, orchestras, dynamic productions – and stays relaxed even at higher levels. With 90 decibels of sensitivity, it's surprisingly undemanding. The Macassar finish doesn't change the sound, but gives the statement speaker a vividly patterned, dark and warm look.

Who is the Atalante 7 Évo suited for?

For large rooms from around 35 square metres and for listeners who want a real statement – sonically and visually. Straight talk: this is not a speaker for casual listening. At 54.6 kilograms per unit (67 kilograms with stand), you need a strong friend and a good plan to set it up – on your own, it won't work. It wants air around it and doesn't belong in the corner of the room. In a small room, it simply can't unfold its energy – then the Atalante 4 or 5 is the smarter choice.

Our verdict

The Atalante 7 Évo is the consistent pinnacle of the series: 15-inch woofer, Évo drivers, golden-ratio cabinet – uncompromising, but never showy. We in Wädenswil see in it exactly that: a speaker that brings great music home in all its force and finesse.

What the press says: Reference class, 5/5 stars – "… then the result is breathtaking." (hifitest 5/2025).

Frequently asked questions

Which amplifier suits the Atalante 7 Évo?
Thanks to 90 decibels of sensitivity and a good-natured 6-ohm load (minimum 4.4 ohms), it works with many amplifiers. From around 50 watts it plays with composure, but it handles up to 300 watts. For full control over the 38 cm woofer, we recommend a strong, load-stable integrated amplifier or a pre/power combination.

How deep does the bass of the Atalante 7 Évo go?
Down to 23 hertz – deep bass that becomes physically tangible. The 38 cm basalt woofer with 3-inch voice coil delivers it fundamental and dry rather than spongy. For that to arrive in the room, it needs floor space: from around 35 square metres it can show its full potential.

How big should the room be for the Atalante 7 Évo?
Ideally 35 to 80 square metres. In that range, the large soundstage spreads out freely without acoustically overloading the room. It needs distance from the walls and doesn't belong in the corner – in rooms that are too small, you give away its potential.

Is the stand included with the Atalante 7 Évo?
Yes. The matching Smart Isolation stand is part of the delivery and comes in the same finish as the speaker. It brings the tweeter to ear height and decouples from the floor – align it carefully, then the sound image locks in. You should always set up the heavy pair with two people; we deliver and install on site if you wish.
