The Argon Audio Quiet Storm is an over-ear headphone with active noise cancelling that filters out ambient noise instead of just dampening it. Commuting, open-plan offices, planes — wherever quiet is otherwise in short supply, it creates its own.
Why the Quiet Storm?
The hybrid ANC technology combines microphones inside and outside the ear cup to cancel out a wider range of noise than simple feedback-ANC systems. On top of that comes stamina: up to 30 hours of playback with active ANC, and if you're ever in a hurry, 5 minutes at the USB-C charging port gives you around 2 hours of playtime back.
What you get
Bluetooth 5.0 with AAC codec for the wireless connection, 40mm drivers for the actual sound, a foldable housing for transport in the included hard case. If the battery does run flat, you plug in the included 3.5mm cable and keep listening passively — the music doesn't have to wait for the charge to come back.
Who is the Quiet Storm for — and who is it not for?
Plain talk: if you expect high-res codecs like aptX or LDAC, you won't find them on the Quiet Storm — it deliberately relies on AAC, which pairs especially well with iPhones. If, on the other hand, what you're mainly after is quiet while travelling and in everyday life, without giving up comfort and long battery life, this is the right choice.
Our verdict

Frequently asked questions
How long does the Quiet Storm's battery last?
Up to 30 hours of playback with active noise cancelling on. A 5-minute quick charge via USB-C gives you around 2 hours of playtime back, in case the battery does run low while you're out.
Does the Quiet Storm work without a battery?
Yes. With the included 3.5mm cable it keeps working passively even when the battery is flat. Noise cancelling, however, stays disabled, since it requires active electronics.
Does the Quiet Storm support aptX or LDAC?
No, the Quiet Storm relies on the AAC codec, which pairs especially well with iPhones. If you're specifically after aptX or LDAC, you'll need a different model — feel free to ask us about it.
