REL

REL Acoustics is a British manufacturer that has focused on exactly one task since 1990: subwoofers that blend unobtrusively into existing music and home cinema systems instead of pushing themselves to the fore with sheer thump. Company founder Richard Edmund Lord built his first prototype into the window seat of his own house – from that persistence grew one of the most renowned subwoofer brands in the world.

At HD Zürisee we carry the complete REL model range: the T Series is the compact entry point for music setups and smaller rooms, the S Series REL's flagship line for music lovers with high demands on depth and control, the Carbon Special Black Label the technological spearhead of the brand, the Classic Series the variant in warm walnut veneer for everyone who doesn't want a piece of technical furniture in the living room, the HT Series the powerful, price-conscious solution for home cinema, and the slim Planar Series the answer for rooms where a classic subwoofer simply has no space.

Which model suits you depends on room size, musical taste and placement options – a T-5x behaves noticeably differently from an S-850, and wall-mounting a Planar PL-2 solves entirely different space problems than a Classic 99 in a sideboard. That's exactly what we're here for: tell us about your room, your speakers and your listening taste, and together we'll find the right model.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose the right REL size for my room?
As a rough rule of thumb: small rooms and nearfield setups benefit from the T-Zero or T-5x, medium-sized living rooms from the T-7x to S-550, large rooms or pure home cinema use from the S-850, Carbon Special Black Label or the HT Series. Talk to us, and we'll work out with you what fits your room.

Does a REL subwoofer also suit small bookshelf speakers?
Yes – REL deliberately positions its subwoofers as a complement, not a replacement for missing bass. Via the high-level input, the subwoofer is integrated into the stereo signal like a third speaker, which sounds harmonious even with small bookshelf speakers.
