What the trade press says

  • SoundStage! Read the review →

The NAD C379 is a stereo integrated amplifier with built-in DAC that combines 2× 150 watts of HybridDigital power, an MM phono stage and an MDC2 expansion slot.

The powerhouse of the Classic Series – plenty of headroom today, open to BluOS streaming tomorrow.

Why the NAD C379?

Because one thing takes centre stage here above all: confident power. The HybridDigital UcD power stage with PowerDrive delivers 2× 150 watts of continuous power and considerably higher dynamic peaks when the music demands it. The built-in DAC takes in digital sources cleanly, and the MDC2 slot keeps the door open to streaming.

What you get

The C379 offers plenty of connectivity: MM phono, two high-level inputs, two optical and two coaxial digital inputs each. On the output side there's pre-out, main-in, two subwoofer outputs with digital crossover and headphones. Via the MDC2 slot you can add the optional BluOS-D module and get BluOS streaming, Dirac Live and HDMI eARC into the unit.

Who is the NAD C379 suited for – and who isn't it for?

Made for medium to large rooms and speakers that want power. Straight talk: the C379 focuses on power rather than the finest DAC – if you want the higher-quality ESS Sabre converter and two module slots, look at the C389. And streaming only arrives with the optional BluOS-D module; it's not included from the factory.

Our verdict

The C379 is the power all-rounder of the Classic Series: plenty of punch, a clean DAC, expandable via MDC2. An honest amplifier for anyone who values headroom and wants to keep streaming as an option.

Frequently asked questions

Can I upgrade the NAD C379 to a streamer?

Yes. The C379 has an MDC2 slot. With the optionally available MDC2 BluOS-D module it becomes a full-blooded BluOS streamer and supports Dirac Live room correction as well as HDMI eARC. The module can be added at any time and keeps the amplifier up to date.

How much power does the NAD C379 really have?

The C379 delivers 2× 150 watts of continuous power into 8 and 4 ohms. Thanks to NAD's PowerDrive, considerably higher dynamic peaks are available briefly. In practice this means confident control even with demanding speakers and high levels.
