The NuPrime Stream 9X is a network streamer with Hi-Res upsampling that brings existing hi-fi chains losslessly into the multiroom age.
It is the solution for everyone on Lake Zurich who wants to feed their system flexibly with streaming services without compromising on sound quality – a little Swiss Army knife for digital audio.
Why the Stream 9X?
At its heart is the SRC (Sampling Rate Converter): it converts the digital signal, as you choose, to up to 768 kilohertz or DoP256 before it goes to the DAC via I²S, AES/EBU, optical or coaxial. To be honest about it: upsampling changes the output rate, not the resolution of the source – whether your converter sounds better at the higher rate is decided by your ears, not by the data sheet. That is why the SRC is selectable. Streaming is up to 24 bit/192 kilohertz.
NuPrime positions the 9X series for compact systems with natural sound and fair value for money. The Stream 9X is the feeder in it – under the motto “Your collection. Everywhere.” it brings your music from network, app and streaming services to the converter of your choice.
What you get
- ✅ All the common routes: AirPlay 2, Google Cast (up to 24 bit/96 kHz), Roon Ready and DLNA – plus Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect and internet radio. Streaming subscriptions are not a must: it also plays local files on the network.
- ✅ Go-Control app: Control via iOS or Android on the Libre Orbit Mini platform, including multiroom groups.
- ✅ Ethernet or Wi-Fi: Cable if you have a socket, dual-band Wi-Fi if not.
- ✅ Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD: For the quick source in between, straight from your phone.
- ✅ Low-noise linear power supply: Provides a calm background from which the music emerges.
- ✅ Four digital outputs plus trigger: I²S, AES/EBU, optical and coaxial to the DAC; the trigger output switches other devices in the chain on and off with it.

Who is the Stream 9X suited for – and who is it not?
Ideal for the multiroom enthusiast looking for a central “brain” for distribution, and for DAC owners whose good converter has no network function. Plain talk: if you only listen to Spotify Free through phone speakers, you do not need this precision device. And because the Stream 9X only outputs digitally, a decent DAC must go behind it.
Our verdict
A highly flexible Hi-Res streamer that cleverly upgrades existing systems – provided a good converter is present or planned. The selectable SRC and the clean power supply set it apart from simple network bridges. If you think of your chain as modular, you get a versatile centrepiece here.

FAQ
Does the Stream 9X have a built-in amplifier or DAC?
No. The Stream 9X is a pure network streamer with exclusively digital outputs (I2S, AES/EBU, optical, coaxial). It needs a separate D/A converter and amplification. In return, its internal SRC can convert the signal, as you choose, to up to 768 kilohertz or DoP256.
Can I also upgrade older digital sources with the Stream 9X?
Yes. Via the optical and coaxial inputs you can connect, for example, an old CD player. The internal SRC can also convert this signal and passes it on to your converter – a practical way to integrate existing devices into the streaming chain. Important: upsampling changes the rate, not the resolution of the source.
Which streaming services and protocols does the Stream 9X support?
AirPlay 2, Google Cast, DLNA and Roon Ready as well as Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect and Qobuz Connect. Streaming is up to 24 bit/192 kilohertz; Google Cast allows high-resolution streaming up to 96 kilohertz / 24 bit. Local network files and internet radio work as well – entirely without a paid subscription.
Does the Stream 9X transmit Bluetooth to headphones?
No. Plain talk: it receives Bluetooth (with aptX HD) from your phone, but does not transmit anything to headphones. It is a receiving station for your stationary system. If you only want to feed wireless headphones, the Stream 9X is the wrong address.
Why buy the NuPrime Stream 9X at HD Zürisee?
Because a streamer without a matching DAC only half shines. We help you find the right converter and the integration into your network – as a Qobuz Hi-Fi partner also with the streaming setup. A well-rehearsed specialist team in Wädenswil, our own technician, honest advice. Call us or write to us.
Goes well with
The Stream 9X delivers the data, the converter behind it makes the sound – this is how the chain keeps growing:
- Converter: A streamer without a DAC is a postman without a letterbox. The DAC-9X from the same series takes the stream via I²S, coaxial or optical and brings preamp functionality along as well.
- All in one: An integrated amplifier with a built-in DAC such as the IDA-9 turns it into a two-box system: Stream 9X, IDA-9, speakers – done.
- Network: A network switch such as the SW-9X can tidy up the network side. Honestly: it does not improve correctly transmitted data, whether you hear anything depends on the rest of the system – NuPrime says so itself.
- Connection: Digital cables (I²S, AES/EBU, coaxial) to the DAC and a network cable to the router.
