Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 Streamer, Silver

The Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 in silver is a network streamer with two ESS converters, XLR and RCA outputs and a 6-inch touchscreen that delivers music from your network, streaming services and storage devices to your system.

The Master Edition adds a femto clock, higher-grade operational amplifiers and an illuminated volume dial to the DMP-A6 Gen 2.

Why the DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2?

Because for relatively little money you get upper-class technology. Two ES9038Q2M chips work with a third-generation XMOS XU316 processor and a quad-core Cortex-A55. Outputs are available as XLR, RCA, USB, optical, coaxial and HDMI. The volume dial has RGB illumination. PCM up to 768 kHz/32 bit, DSD512 and MQA are possible, 32 GB is built in, and the M.2 slot adds up to 4 TB.

What you hear

The femto clock and the OPA1612 are designed to keep the signal chain quiet. The difference from the standard Gen 2 is technically justified; whether you hear it depends on the rest of your system.

Who is the DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 suited for?

For music lovers looking for a compact streamer with a balanced output who want a bit more than the entry level. Plain speaking: a headphone output is not listed in the data sheet, and a remote control is not included (available as an accessory).

Our verdict

The Master Edition is a well-equipped streamer in a handy format. If you want XLR outputs and more reserves without moving up to the A8 class, this is the right place. We are happy to advise you at HD Zürisee on whether the extra cost over the standard Gen 2 is worth it.
