Yamaha True X Bar 50A Dolby Atmos Soundbar, Light Grey (Each)

The Yamaha True X Bar 50A (SR-X50A) is a 2.1.2-channel Dolby Atmos soundbar with wireless subwoofer and network streaming, which can be expanded via True X Surround into a genuine wireless home cinema.

It's Yamaha's lifestyle flagship with a clear expansion concept: Dolby Atmos via two upward-firing height channels, an included wireless subwoofer for the foundation – and the option to add genuine rear speakers with no cables using the portable True X Speakers. The fabric-wrapped design blends into the living room instead of dominating it.

Why the True X Bar 50A?

Because it combines two things that rarely go together: uncomplicated, room-filling Atmos sound from a slim bar – and the freedom to expand the system later into genuine surround, without laying a single speaker cable. The wireless subwoofer delivers noticeable depth, and the height channels open the sound upward. Music runs over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, films via a single HDMI connection.

What You Hear

From the bar plus wireless sub comes a powerful 2.1.2 Atmos soundstage with proper foundation and a height effect a flat bar couldn't otherwise achieve. The "Clear Voice" feature brings out voices and dialogue when music and effects get louder. Add two True X Speaker 1A as rears, and the sound field closes behind you into genuine all-round surround – the most noticeable leap in the whole system.

Who Is the True X Bar 50A For? (Straight Talk)

For anyone who wants stylish, flexibly expandable TV and music sound without an AV receiver or cable clutter. Straight talk: the True X Bar 50A plays in the lifestyle and design segment, not the audiophile stereo space – it's not built for critical listening from a dedicated sweet spot. The full surround effect only comes with the optional True X rears (or straight away as the PK-TRUE50A set). For relaxed, room-filling movie and music sound, though, it's one of the most charming solutions in its class.

Our Verdict

A well-thought-out, living-room-friendly Atmos package with a genuine expansion concept: convincing on its own, even more so with rears. If you're after a bar that grows with you instead of demanding cables, you've found it.
