Yamaha RX-A2A AVENTAGE – the entry into the reference class
The RX-A2A marks the start of Yamaha's AVENTAGE series, the company's home cinema flagship line. Externally you can tell by the more solid build with the central fifth foot (A.R.T. Wedge) against vibration, internally by the more careful tuning. 7.2 channels, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, phono input and full MusicCast – a genuine step up from the RX-V range.
Sound & amplification
Seven channels at 100 W (8 Ω, 20 Hz–20 kHz, two channels driven, 0.06% THD) and the torsion-resistant AVENTAGE construction ensure calm, controlled sound. YPAO with R.S.C. and multi-point measurement balances the room, and CINEMA DSP 3D extends the spatial effect of music and film.
Surround & HDMI
Seven HDMI inputs and one output, three of them with full 8K/60 and 4K/120 bandwidth (HDMI 2.1), HDCP 2.3 and eARC. Picture with Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG and BT.2020; gaming with ALLM and VRR. It decodes Dolby Atmos including height virtualization, DTS:X, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. A genuine, amplified Zone 2 is included.
Streaming & sources
MusicCast integrates the RX-A2A into the multiroom system: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Deezer, Amazon Music and more. Voice control via Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri, radio via the DAB+/FM tuner. An MM phono input for your turntable and MusicCast Surround for wireless rears are on board.
Straight talk – what you need to know
The RX-A2A is the entry-level AVENTAGE and is stripped down accordingly: it doesn't yet have Surround:AI (that starts with the RX-A4A), no Auro-3D and no ESS premium DAC. It amplifies seven channels – anything beyond 5.1.2 or 7.1 isn't possible internally. If you want Surround:AI, the ESS SABRE DAC and full 11.2 processing, step up to the RX-A4A or RX-A6A. But you already get the AVENTAGE advantage in build quality and tuning over the RX-V6A right here.

Frequently asked questions
What does AVENTAGE give me over the RX-V series?
AVENTAGE receivers are built to a higher standard: a stiffer chassis, the central fifth foot (A.R.T. Wedge) against vibration, and more careful tuning. The goal is a calmer, more defined sound.
Does the RX-A2A have Surround:AI?
No. Surround:AI, which analyzes and optimizes the sound scene in real time, is only available from the RX-A4A upward. The RX-A2A works with CINEMA DSP 3D.
How many speakers can I connect?
Seven amplified channels, so for example 5.1.2 for Dolby Atmos or classic 7.1, each plus a subwoofer. For four height channels you need a larger AVENTAGE model.
