Rega Platter Mat

The original mat your record actually rests on – material and finish vary by Rega model.

Planar 1 and Planar 2 come with a thin black acrylic mat, Planar 3/6/8 with a black felt mat, the Planar 10 with a finest-quality white felt mat. Anyone wanting a bit more visual flair can go for the colored felt mat (red, purple, yellow, or blue) or the leather mat – both sonically on par with the respective original standard, but with a more personal look on the platter.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the colored or leather mat on any Rega deck?

Yes, all variants fit the standard platter size of all current Rega turntables – the choice is purely a matter of look and material preference, not compatibility.

Does the mat affect the sound?

Minimally, yes – material and density slightly influence damping and coupling. The respective original mat is matched to the deck; switching is mainly a matter of looks.
