The AudioQuest SorboGel Q Feet are a set of four isolation feet that separate a hi-fi component from its surface. Each foot consists of a viscoelastic SorboGel pad inside a hard plastic shell and supports roughly three kilograms – so about twelve for all four together.
Why vibration is a problem in the first place
Vibration comes from two directions: from outside via the floor, furniture and the sound pressure of the speakers, and from inside via transformers, motors and drive mechanisms. Both set components into micro-motion, and with turntables it ends up directly in the groove. The gel in the Q Foot absorbs this energy and converts it into a tiny amount of heat instead of passing it on. The typical Q shape with the dip in the middle makes the pad more compliant without it tipping sideways.
What you get
Four Q Feet, four black shells and a set of instructions. One foot measures roughly 76 millimeters in diameter and stands about 22 millimeters tall – so your device ends up a good two centimeters higher than before, which you should briefly measure for in a tight rack shelf. The soft gel side faces up toward the device, the hard shell faces down onto the furniture. No tools, no modification: lift, place underneath, set down.
Who are the Q Feet for – and who aren't they for?
Their home is turntables and light, sensitive sources: converters, streamers, CD transports, phono preamps – especially on wooden floors, old-building floorboards, or a sideboard that resonates along with loud music. Straight talk: load capacity is the limit. Roughly three kilograms per foot means a full-grown integrated amplifier or power amp is too heavy – other solutions exist for that. And if your device is already sitting on a massive, isolated rack, the gain is small.
Our verdict
No voodoo, but material physics with a clear number behind it: three kilograms per foot, twelve per set. Under the right device in the right place, this is one of the most affordable audible improvements there is; under the wrong one, it stays expensive rubber. Frequently asked questions
How much can a device weigh on the Q Feet?
One foot supports roughly three kilograms, so the set of four supports about twelve. That covers turntables, converters, streamers and light preamps. For a heavy integrated amp or power amp, you need a more load-bearing solution – tell us the weight, and we'll name an alternative.
Which way round do the feet go under the device?
The soft gel side faces up toward the device, the hard shell sits on the furniture or floor. That way the gel can work and convert kinetic energy into minimal heat instead of passing it on. The included instructions show it again in pictures, in case you're unsure.
Do I need to unscrew the original feet?
Usually not. You simply place the Q Feet under the device, as close as possible to its own standard feet, so the load is distributed cleanly. Only if the stock feet are very narrow or pointed is it worth checking the contact area – otherwise it presses into the gel at a single point.
Do isolation feet actually make a difference?
Under turntables and on resonating furniture, audibly yes: a calmer background, more stable imaging, less feedback at high levels. If your device already sits on a massive, isolated rack, the gain is noticeably smaller. We'd rather tell you that beforehand than afterward.
Why buy the SorboGel Q Feet from HD Zürisee?
Because we tell you where isolation really pays off and where your budget would achieve more elsewhere. In Wädenswil, our team will look at your furniture, your device, and its weight – and if needed, recommend nothing at all. Call us or drop us a quick message.
