The Atoll ST200 Signature is a network streamer with a DAC and its own volume control that plays music from the network, from USB, and from digital sources.
It's the entry point into Atoll's full-format streaming — and one where the manufacturer didn't cut corners in the wrong place: separate transformers for the analogue and digital sections, 27,000 µF of smoothing capacitance, and a large display you can actually read from the sofa.
Why the ST200 Signature?
Because it shortens the chain. A Burr-Brown PCM1792 converts up to 24-bit/192 kHz including DSD, after which it goes through a regulated output stage straight into a power amp — or with a fixed level into an integrated amplifier, exactly as you like. Two line inputs, four S/PDIF inputs, and two USB-A ports also make it a gathering point for anything digital.
What you get
Access to pretty much everything: Qobuz, Tidal with Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect, Deezer, Amazon Music, HighResAudio, internet radio, plus Roon Ready, AirPlay 2, and UPnP/DLNA for your own collection on the home network. It's controlled via the Atoll app, the 13-centimetre colour display, or the remote control — and if a feature was missing, Atoll has so far usually added it sooner or later via a firmware update.
Who is the ST200 Signature for?
For anyone who wants to add a serious network source to their CD and vinyl setup — and for anyone happy to get by with a streamer plus a power amp. Plain talk: it doesn't have an XLR output; that only comes with the ST300 Signature. It can't do phono, and it doesn't take option cards. And anyone who only listens via Bluetooth from their phone doesn't need this device — a fraction of it will do.
Our verdict
The ST200 Signature is the sensible point in Atoll's streaming lineup: everything you need day to day, without paying extra for the last percent. Neven Kos wrote in July 2023 on enjoythemusic.com: "The ATOLL ST200 Signature Streamer / DAC / Preamplifier is a pleasure to use for its excellent application, screen, remote control and designed functionality." Not sure whether a streamer plus power amp is enough for you, or whether it should be an integrated amplifier after all? Frequently asked questions
Can the Atoll ST200 Signature drive a power amp directly?
Yes. The ST200 Signature has its own volume control and outputs up to 2.6 volts. That lets it replace the preamp in a lean chain. You can run it into an integrated amplifier just the same – the amplifier then takes over the level control.
What distinguishes the ST200 Signature from the ST300 Signature?
The ST300 Signature has two converter chips instead of one, significantly more power supply (69,000 instead of 27,000 µF), and an additional balanced XLR output. The ST200 Signature offers the same streaming feature set, just one notch below in terms of effort.
Is the Atoll ST200 Signature Roon Ready?
Yes, officially certified. On top of that come AirPlay 2, Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect, Qobuz, Deezer, Amazon Music, HighResAudio, internet radio, and UPnP/DLNA. It's controlled via the Atoll app, the colour display, or the remote control.
Can I connect headphones to the ST200 Signature?
Yes, there's a 3.5 mm jack on the front. That's plenty for the occasional headphone evening. Anyone listening daily with demanding headphones will do considerably better with a dedicated headphone amplifier.
Why buy the Atoll ST200 Signature at HD Zürisee?
Because half the work with a streamer happens in the network. We set it up, connect it stably to your Wi-Fi or LAN, sort out your library, and show you the app. Installation and service run through our own technician.
