Collection: ANTHEM

Anthem is a Canadian manufacturer of home cinema and stereo electronics whose devices adapt to your room via the in-house room correction ARC Genesis. The focus has always been on sound and calibration rather than on flashy gimmicks – plainly operated, but honest in sound.

The Anthem range at our store

AV receivers – the MRX line for home cinema, with ARC Genesis and HDMI 2.1. From the ultra-compact MRX-SLM to the 11.2-channel MRX 1140 8K.
A/V preamplifiers – the AVM processors for separates setups: AVM 70 8K with 15.2 channels, AVM 90 8K with 15.4 channels, four subwoofer outputs and XLR.
Multichannel power amplifiers – the MCA series with two, three or five channels, when the processor needs muscle.
Multiroom power amplifiers – the MDX-8 and MDX-16 distribute music across four or eight zones respectively, each individually calibrated via ARC and integrated into home automation via IP or RS-232.

What you choose by

The first question isn't the number of channels, but the form factor: an AV receiver combines processor and power amps in one chassis – simpler, cheaper, the right answer for most living rooms. Separates split the two and pay off when the room is large, the speakers are demanding, or you want to upgrade in stages later. Only then do you count channels. And honestly: in an untreated living room, ARC Genesis usually makes more difference than jumping to the next size of power amp.

Honestly speaking

Anthem is the right choice if clean, precisely calibrated sound matters more to you than the maximum app and streaming playground. If you want the flashiest interface and every streaming gimmick, the mass-market brands are the better fit. If you want power and calibration that audibly changes things in everyday use, that's Anthem.

Frequently asked questions

What does ARC room correction actually do?

ARC Genesis measures your room with a microphone and smooths out peaks, especially in the bass, where the room does the most damage. The result is a cleaner, more balanced sound across all seating positions instead of just at the sweet spot. On request, we'll do the calibration at your home.

Do I need a separate power amp for Anthem?

The MRX receivers have their own power amps built in and don't need one. The AVM processors, on the other hand, have none – there, separate power amps are mandatory, typically from the MCA series. In large rooms or with low-efficiency speakers, an MCA is worthwhile even alongside a receiver.

What's the difference between the MDX-8 and MDX-16?

The MDX-8 feeds eight channels across up to four zones, the MDX-16 sixteen channels across up to eight zones. Otherwise they're technically identical: same power per channel, same bridging capability, same control via IP and RS-232. You simply choose based on the number of rooms.
