The WiiM Voice Remote 2 is the second generation of the WiiM remote: an aluminium unibody instead of plastic, a built-in battery instead of a battery compartment, charged via USB-C. It feels like an accessory from a higher price class – and that's exactly the point.

Because it fixes two annoyances of the first generation. First, the material: the brushed aluminium body feels noticeably more premium in the hand and matches a WiiM Ultra or Amp Ultra visually. Second, the power supply: instead of AAA batteries, there's a built-in battery that charges in about an hour and then lasts for weeks.

Here too, Bluetooth Low Energy communicates all around – no aiming, no line of sight. The streamer can disappear into a cabinet.

What you get

Four smart preset buttons for stations, playlists or albums, a push-to-talk button for voice commands, source selection, mute and the usual transport buttons. An RGB light shows status, and below 20 percent battery the remote lets you know on its own – rather than simply quitting silently.

How long does the battery last?

The manufacturer states several weeks per charge under normal use. Charging via USB-C takes around an hour. Below 20 percent remaining charge, the LED blinks red, so you're warned before the remote gives out in the middle of an evening.

Which WiiM devices does the Voice Remote 2 work with?
