yamaharn2000asi
Yamaha R-N2000A Network Receiver, Silver

The Yamaha R-N2000A is a network receiver that combines an integrated amplifier, streaming player, DAC, and DAB+/FM tuner in one chassis.

One device, one power plug, one pair of speakers – and the system is ready. Yamaha packs almost everything in here that would otherwise need three stacked boxes, and does so with the quiet confidence of a brand that has built amplifiers for decades.

Why the R-N2000A?

At its heart is an ESS SABRE ES9026PRO DAC, flanked by a large toroidal transformer and a fully balanced, floating signal path. That's not spec-sheet bragging – it's audible: the R-N2000A sounds clean, powerful, and mature without ever seeming strained. Yamaha's YPAO R.S.C. room calibration measures your room with a microphone and smooths out early reflections – the fine-tuning that would otherwise take hours of manual tweaking, the receiver does in minutes.

What you'll hear

Via MusicCast, you pull Spotify, Amazon Music HD, Qobuz, and AirPlay 2 straight into the device and distribute sound to other rooms as needed. The USB DAC section handles DSD up to 11.2 MHz and PCM up to 384 kHz, an MM phono input awaits your turntable, and the HDMI ARC connection ties in your TV. The illuminated level meters on the front are pure nostalgic pleasure – and yes, you'll catch yourself watching them.

Who is the R-N2000A for? (and who it isn't)

Ideal if you want an uncompromising stereo system without filling your rack with separate components – vinyl, streaming, TV sound, and CD (via digital input) all under one roof. Straight talk: if you only occasionally stream a few songs over Bluetooth in the background, you're buying far more receiver than you'll ever need. The R-N2000A wants good speakers and music you actually listen to.

Our verdict

A High-End receiver that combines the charm of classic Hi-Fi aesthetics with modern network convenience – and delivers sonically to match. Not without reason did the European EISA jury name the R-N2000A the EISA Hi-Fi Receiver 2023–2024. For many, it's the last electronics purchase they'll need for a long time.

Technical data

Amplifier power (RMS): 90 W + 90 W (8 Ω), 145 W + 145 W (4 Ω)

Dynamic power: up to 215 W/channel (2 Ω)

DAC: ESS SABRE ES9026PRO; USB DAC up to DSD 11.2 MHz / PCM 384 kHz

Room calibration: YPAO R.S.C. with precision EQ (up to 192 kHz/64-bit)

Streaming: MusicCast, AirPlay 2, Spotify, Amazon Music HD, Qobuz, internet radio

Tuner: DAB+/FM

Inputs: phono (MM), 2× line, CD, 2× optical, coaxial, USB-B, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth

Outputs: speakers A/B, subwoofer, headphones, HDMI ARC

Dimensions (W×H×D): 435 × 157 × 473 mm (with antenna raised 435 × 233 × 473 mm)

Weight: 22.1 kg

Warranty: 2 + 3 years (5 years after product registration)

Included: R-N2000A, remote control, YPAO measurement microphone, DAB/FM antenna, Wi-Fi antenna, power cable

Frequently asked questions

Does the R-N2000A need a separate streamer or DAC?
No. Network player, ESS DAC, phono preamp, and power amp are already built in.
