viablue-ufo-xl-absorber
ViaBlue UFO XL Absorber (Set of 4)

The ViaBlue UFO XL Absorber is a vibration damper that lets components rest on a soft damping membrane instead of rigidly.

Unlike a spike, which reduces the contact area to a single point, the UFO XL Absorber works with elastic soft pads that absorb and dampen vibrations instead of transmitting them onward. It's suited everywhere you don't want to drill a hole or apply point pressure to furniture with a spike tip – for instance on a sideboard, a glass shelf or directly on a shelf floor.

What you get

Four large absorbers carry floor-standing speakers, turntables or tube amplifiers on their damping membranes. Each absorber contains two replaceable soft pads made of elastic polymer that take up the pressure – well suited to large-volume speakers or components that should stand on sensitive surfaces without loading them.

Who is the UFO XL Absorber suitable for?

Suited to heavy floor-standing speakers, turntables and tube amplifiers that shouldn't stand on a hard spike tip – for instance on glass, lacquer or thin veneer. If you instead want maximum coupling to a solid floor plate, a spike like the QTC often gives the more direct result.

Our verdict

The gentle alternative to a spike: no point contact, no pressure mark, but a large-area, damping support – ideal for furniture and surfaces you want to protect.

Technical data

Type: vibration damper (absorber) with soft-pad damping membrane

Version: set of 4, XL size

Colour: black or silver

Use: floor-standing speakers, turntables, tube amplifiers and other heavy components

Soft pads: 2 per absorber, replaceable

Mounting: with or without screwing, freestanding under the component

Scope of delivery: 4 UFO XL Absorbers incl. soft pads

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between an absorber and a spike?

A spike reduces the contact area to a hard point, an absorber dampens vibrations via a soft, elastic membrane. Absorbers are therefore better suited to sensitive surfaces that can't tolerate point pressure.

Can I replace the soft pads in the UFO XL Absorber?

Yes, each absorber contains two replaceable soft pads made of elastic polymer. If the damping effect weakens after extended use, you simply replace the pads instead of the whole absorber.

Does the UFO XL Absorber fit under a turntable?

Yes, especially if the deck is sensitive to footfall noise. The damping effect reduces the transmission of vibrations from the floor or furniture to the chassis.

Do I need to screw the UFO XL Absorber down?

No, it can also be placed freestanding under the component. Screwing is possible if needed, but isn't required for the damping effect.

Why buy the ViaBlue UFO XL Absorber at HD Zürisee?

Because we show you whether an absorber or rather a spike suits your component and your placement situation.
