regaelex-rmk4
Rega Elex MK4 Integrated Amplifier, Black

The Rega Elex MK4 is an integrated amplifier with a built-in DAC and MM phono stage, combining Rega's rhythmic, punchy playing style with modern digital inputs – a complete stereo amplifier for vinyl and streaming.

72 watts into 8 ohms, British understatement, a cleanly separated digital section: the Elex MK4 is the golden middle ground between the compact Brio and the larger Elicit.

Why the Elex MK4?

Because it combines speed with substance. A generously sized toroidal transformer ensures stability at any volume, and the galvanically isolated digital section keeps interference from a computer or TV away from the analogue section. The result is a remarkably black background between the notes. The MM phono stage is precise enough for your turntable to show its full potential.

What you hear

Speed and punch. The Elex MK4 really digs in, especially in the bass, making music physically tangible without losing its grip on the overall picture. Thanks to the new DAC, the sound is even more organised and spacious than its predecessor. Straight talk: no display, just clear LEDs – purist, but quieter for it.

Who is the Elex MK4 for?

For anyone who finds the Brio a bit tight and wants more bass control plus a built-in DAC – the ideal single-box amplifier for a mixed source setup. Honestly: if you use a moving-coil cartridge, you'll need an additional MC-capable phono stage, since the Elex only has an MM input.

Our verdict

The Elex MK4 is the new benchmark in Rega's mid-range: fast, punchy, and thanks to the DAC, well equipped for today. An amplifier that treats vinyl and digital sources as equals. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil, we'll tell you honestly whether it suits your speakers – and set up the whole chain for you.

Technical specifications

Type: integrated amplifier with DAC and MM phono stage

Output power: 72 W into 8 Ω (90 W into 6 Ω)

Digital inputs: S/PDIF optical, S/PDIF coaxial

Analogue inputs: 1× phono MM, 4× line (RCA)

Outputs: pre-amp out, record out, headphone (6.35 mm)

Dimensions (W×H×D): 432 × 82 × 340 mm

Weight: 11 kg

Warranty: 2 years

Included: Elex MK4, Solaris remote control, power cable, manual

Frequently asked questions

Can I connect my TV directly?

Yes. Via the optical or coaxial digital input, you feed the TV audio straight into the Elex MK4 and hear it through your stereo speakers in Rega quality. No additional DAC is needed for this.

Which turntables suit the Elex MK4?

Any with a moving-magnet (MM) cartridge – the Elex has a dedicated MM phono stage. For a moving-coil (MC) cartridge you'll need an additional matching MC preamplifier. We'll tell you what suits your turntable.

How does it differ from the Brio MK7?

The Elex MK4 has more power, a larger power supply and an extra line input – so more headroom and control. The Brio MK7 is more compact and more affordable. For larger rooms or more demanding speakers, the Elex is the safer choice.

Why buy the Rega Elex MK4 at HD Zürisee?

Because we give you honest advice and match the whole chain together.
