rega-kyte-regallautsprecher-schwarz
Rega Kyte 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers, Black (Pair)

The Rega Kyte is a 2-way bookshelf speaker with a rear bass reflex port, developed by Rega as part of the System One – but it works just as well as a standalone pair driven by a small integrated amplifier. Small cabinet, big performance: exactly the Rega recipe that has also defined the Planar turntables for decades.

Why the Kyte?

Rega has always built compact speakers that deliver more pace and rhythm than their size suggests – the Kyte is no exception. The cabinet, made from thermoset phenolic resin with ceramic plates and internal bracing, stands extremely still, while the hand-built MX-125 bass/mid driver and Rega's own ZRR tweeter deliver a direct, uncoloured sound. If you already own a Rega turntable or amplifier, this gives you the matching character to go with it.

What you'll hear

Fast basslines, clear voices, a sound that pulls you in rather than just playing back. The Kyte isn't a bass monster – instead it's honest, precisely timed and pleasantly undramatic in small to medium-sized rooms. Equally suited to casual listening and to a first serious step into hi-fi.

Who is the Kyte for? (and who it's not for)

Ideal for living rooms and home offices, second systems, or as the compact heart of a Rega chain with a Planar 1 or 2 and a small integrated amplifier like the Io or Brio MK7. Plain talk: if you want to fill a large room with deep bass down into the basement, the Aya or RS10 is the better fit – the Kyte shows its strengths in manageable rooms.

Our verdict

A compact speaker that follows the Rega signature – pace, timing, directness – all the way through. If you've ever heard a Rega turntable, you roughly know what to expect: music instead of showing off.

Technical data

Dimensions (W × H × D): 188 × 325 × 231 mm

Weight: 3.7 kg per speaker

Type: 2-way, bass reflex (rear-firing)

Tweeter: Rega ZRR

Bass/mid driver: Rega MX-125 (4-layer voice coil)

Nominal impedance: 6 ohms

Sensitivity: 89 dB

Recommended amplifier power: up to 80 W

Cabinet: thermoset phenolic resin with ceramic plates, internal bracing

Colour: black

What's included: 1 pair of speakers

Frequently asked questions

Does the Kyte need a subwoofer?

No, not necessarily. In small to medium-sized rooms the Kyte delivers a rounded, balanced sound even without a subwoofer. If you want very deep bass for movie soundtracks or electronic music, you can easily add a subwoofer later.

Which amplifier suits the Kyte?

Small to medium integrated amplifiers with 20 to 80 watts are entirely sufficient, such as the Rega Io or Brio MK7. At 6 ohms and 89 dB sensitivity, the Kyte is easy to drive and forgiving of more affordable amplifiers too.

Does the Kyte fit on a speaker stand?

Yes, with the matching Rega Kyte stand adapter it mounts cleanly onto standard speaker stands instead of just sitting on a shelf.

Is the Kyte also available as a single speaker?

No, Rega supplies the Kyte only in pairs, as befits stereo.

Why buy the Rega Kyte at HD Zürisee?

We've known the Rega chain for years and know which amplifiers and turntables suit the Kyte.
