It delivers transparent sound across the whole spectrum and is among the most durable DJ styli. Ideal when your old Mix stylus has had its day.

What you hear

Clean, balanced sound without fuss. The spherical profile holds the groove securely and forgives well-worn records – stability and drive rather than audiophile finesse. Exactly right for mixing and cueing.

Who is the Stylus MKII Mix for?

For DJs who need an affordable, robust and instantly click-on replacement stylus for their Concorde MKII Mix. Plain talk: for fine HiFi listening, the spherical profile lacks the last bit of resolution – that's what the Music series is for. It doesn't fit other MKII models.

Our verdict

The uncomplicated replacement stylus for the Concorde MKII Mix: spherical, robust, ready to go. Swap the wear part instead of buying a new system – as it should be.

Technical data

Type: replacement stylus (stylus unit) for Ortofon Concorde MKII Mix

Stylus profile: spherical, R 18 µm

Output voltage: 6 mV (1 kHz, 5 cm/s)

Recommended tracking force: 3 g (range 2–4 g)

Channel separation: 20 dB at 1 kHz / 15 dB at 15 kHz

Channel balance: 1.5 dB at 1 kHz

Tracking ability at 315 Hz: 100 µm

Compliance: 14 µm/mN

Internal resistance (DC): 700 Ω

Internal inductance: 450 mH

Recommended load resistance: 47 kΩ

Recommended load capacitance: 200–600 pF

Frequently asked questions

Does the Stylus MKII Mix fit my Concorde?

The MKII Mix is made for the Concorde MKII Mix and clicks onto its matching body. It doesn't fit the Music series (Red to Black LVB 250) or other MKII models – those have their own stylus units. If in doubt, just ask, we'll check it for you.

Is the Stylus MKII Mix a complete stylus or just the diamond?

A complete stylus unit. With the Concorde system, the whole stylus unit with diamond and cantilever sits at the front of the body and is replaced as a whole – no gluing in individual diamonds, no tools needed.

When should I replace the stylus?

As soon as the sound gets duller, distortion becomes audible, or the stylus is visibly worn. Depending on use, a DJ stylus lasts a few hundred hours. A worn stylus sounds worse and can damage your records – when in doubt, replace it sooner rather than later.

Why buy the Stylus MKII Mix at HD Zürisee?

Because we've had DJ gear in store for decades and can tell you whether a new stylus is enough or a different profile makes more sense.
