nadpp2e
NAD PP 2e Phono Preamp (MM/MC)

The NAD PP 2e is a phono preamp that connects a turntable with an MM or MC cartridge to any amplifier without a phono input.

Many modern amplifiers and AV receivers have dropped the phono input - or tacked on a half-hearted budget circuit instead. The PP 2e brings back a clean phono stage, affordably and without fuss.

Why the PP 2e?

Because in a small housing it does exactly the right thing: low-noise, wide-bandwidth amplification for MM and MC cartridges with precise RIAA equalization (±0.3 dB). An external 24-volt power supply keeps things quiet, gold-plated jacks ensure secure contact, and Auto Power Down switches it off when you're done.

What you hear / get

An open, clean sound that does your record justice. Operation: plug it in, choose MM or MC with the switch, done. No setup marathon.

Who is the PP 2e suited for? (and who isn't it for)

Ideal for anyone with a turntable and an amplifier without a (good) phono input - whether MM or MC cartridge. Plain talk: if you already have a high-quality phono stage in your amplifier, you don't need it. And if you want to digitize your records on your computer, reach for its bigger sibling, the PP 4 with USB.

Our verdict

An honest, affordable entry into phono that sounds well above its price.
