nadmdc2bluos
NAD MDC2 BluOS-D Module (Streaming & Dirac)

The NAD MDC2 BluOS-D module is an expansion card that retrofits MDC2-capable NAD amplifiers with BluOS streaming, Dirac Live room correction and an HDMI eARC input.

It turns a very good amplifier into a complete streaming hub – without buying a new unit.

Why the MDC2 BluOS-D module?

Because it keeps your NAD from going out of date. Once the module is in the MDC2 slot (of a C399 or M33, for example), the amplifier gains BluOS streaming including MQA and multiroom, AirPlay 2, Spotify and Tidal Connect, an HDMI eARC input for your TV and the option of Dirac Live room correction. An upgrade that noticeably increases the value of your device.

What you get

Included in the box are the module itself, the Dirac measurement microphone with USB adapter, and the Wi-Fi antennas. It connects via dual-band Wi-Fi or Gigabit Ethernet. Installation goes through the MDC2 slot – we're happy to fit it professionally at our workshop so warranty and function stay intact.

Who is the MDC2 BluOS-D module for – and who isn't it for?

Right for owners of an MDC2-capable NAD amplifier who want to retrofit streaming, room correction and TV connectivity. Bottom line: the module fits exclusively into NAD devices with an MDC2 slot – not into older MDC or third-party devices. If in doubt, we'll check beforehand whether your amplifier is compatible.

Our verdict

The MDC2 BluOS-D module is the smartest upgrade for your existing NAD system: streaming, room correction and HDMI for a fraction of a new device's price. Future-proofing as a retrofit.

Technical specifications

Module type: MDC2 (Modular Design Construction, 2nd generation)

Function: streaming, room correction, TV audio input

Streaming: BluOS (multiroom, MQA)

Room correction: Dirac Live (optional unlock)

Video/audio: 1× HDMI eARC

Network: dual-band Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet

Protocols: AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect

DAC: integrated (module's own converters)

Compatible with: MDC2-capable NAD amplifiers (e.g. C399, M33)

What's included: module, Dirac measurement microphone with USB adapter, Wi-Fi antennas

Frequently asked questions

Which NAD amplifiers does the MDC2 BluOS-D module fit?

The module fits NAD amplifiers with an MDC2 slot, such as the C399 or the M33. Older devices with the original MDC slot are not compatible, since MDC2 uses a bidirectional data connection. If you're unsure, tell us your model – we'll check compatibility before you order.

Do I need a streaming subscription for the MDC2 BluOS-D module?

No. With BluOS you can listen without a paid subscription too – internet radio, music files from your network or NAS, and the free tiers of many services. Paid services like Tidal or Qobuz are an option, not a requirement. You decide how much streaming you really want to use.

Why buy the MDC2 BluOS-D module at HD Zürisee?

A module upgrade lives and dies on the right assessment and a clean install.
