hifi-set-avm-as-30-3-audition-cb-2-3-cellini-chrom
HiFi Set AVM AS 30.3 + Audition CB 2.3, Cellini Chrome

The AVM AS 30.3 + Audition CB 2.3 HiFi set is a complete stereo system made up of the AVM AS 30.3 streaming integrated amplifier and a pair of AVM Audition CB 2.3 bookshelf speakers – both components in the Cellini Chrome finish.

Chrome-plated front, full functionality: the amplifier and speakers come from the same house in Malsch and are matched to each other. All you need is a pair of speaker cables and your music – streamed, from a turntable, or via your TV.

Why buy it as a set?

Because hunting down matching components is the real work. Here, power, impedance and tuning already fit together from the factory: 2 × 125 watts into 4 Ω meet a speaker with 4 Ω nominal impedance and 140 watts of power handling – no datasheet Tetris, no fine-tuning needed. And because the hand-polished chrome front is identical on both components, the system looks like one cohesive whole rather than two random acquaintances on the shelf.

What's in the set?

The AVM AS 30.3 streaming integrated amplifier in Cellini Chrome is a hand-built all-in-one with 2 × 125 watts, a selected ESS DAC (9038 Q2M) and the AVM X-STREAM engine – complete with AirPlay 2, Roon Ready, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz, HighResAudio, internet radio, Bluetooth 5.0 and HDMI ARC for your TV. Importantly, it has a full phono input, switchable between MM and MC – so a turntable can be connected directly. It has no CD drive; that's reserved for its sister model, the AVM CS 30.3.

Alongside it comes a pair of AVM Audition CB 2.3 bookshelf speakers in Cellini Chrome: compact 2-way bass-reflex speakers with a 160 mm sandwich woofer and fabric dome tweeter, crossover frequency 1850 Hz, 37 Hz to 50 kHz frequency range. The cabinet is made from ultra-high-density fibre material, and a height-adjustable third foot tilts the speaker towards the listening position.

Who is this set suited for – and who isn't it for?

Ideal for anyone who wants a complete, high-quality system for small to medium-sized living rooms and is happy to let it show what's on the shelf. Straight talk: the AS 30.3 has no CD drive – if you want to load CDs, get the set with the AVM CS 30.3 instead. The Cellini Chrome front costs extra and delivers exactly nothing sonically; if you prefer something more understated, choose Black or Silver and hear exactly the same thing. And if you're filling a very large room, think about floorstanding speakers instead of the compact CB 2.3.

Our verdict

This set is the short answer to a long question: a full-fledged streaming system with phono, in two boxes, set up in half an hour – and in Cellini Chrome, a piece of furniture too. Handcrafted in Germany, with no component guesswork. We're happy to work out together which placement works best in your room at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil.

Technical data

Amplifier: AVM AS 30.3, streaming integrated amplifier with MM/MC phono, no CD drive

Output power: 2 × 125 W (1% THD, 4 Ω)

D/A converter: selected ESS 9038 Q2M, upsampling to 192 kHz / 24-bit

Streaming: AVM X-STREAM engine, up to DSD256 and PCM 384 kHz / 32-bit

Services: AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz, HighResAudio, Roon Ready, UPnP, internet radio

Phono input: 1× MM/MC switchable (MM 40 dB, MC 60 dB)

Other inputs: 2× line-level (RCA), HDMI ARC, S/PDIF coaxial and optical, USB-A, Bluetooth 5.0 LE

Outputs: pre-out, line-out, 2× S/PDIF digital, headphone jack on the front (80 Ω)

Network and multiroom: LAN 100 Mbit/s, Wi-Fi 2.4 / 5 GHz, AVM RoomConneXion

Amplifier dimensions (W × H × D): 430 × 115 × 355 mm, 6.9 kg

Speakers: AVM Audition CB 2.3, pair, 2-way bass-reflex bookshelf speaker

Drivers: 160 mm sandwich woofer, fabric dome tweeter, crossover frequency 1850 Hz

Frequency range: 37 Hz – 50 kHz

Sensitivity: 88 dB (2.83 V / 1 m)

Impedance: 4 Ω nominal, minimum 3.6 Ω at 240 Hz

Power handling and max. That's a complete stereo system – all that's missing is speaker cable and your music source. Both components come from the same manufacturer.

Does this set have a phono input for a turntable?

Yes. The AS 30.3 has a full phono input, switchable between MM and MC. You don't need an external phono stage – a turntable connects directly to the unit. If you also want to play CDs, get the set with the AVM CS 30.3 and its slot-in drive instead.

What's the difference between Cellini Chrome and the standard colours?

Purely visual. Cellini Chrome is the hand-polished, chrome-plated front variant available at an extra cost – on both the amplifier and the speaker front baffles. Sound, connections and functions are completely identical to the Black and Silver versions.

Is this set enough for my living room?

For small to medium-sized rooms, yes. The CB 2.3 dig surprisingly deep for their size, and 2 × 125 watts leaves plenty of headroom. From around 35 square metres, or with open-plan layouts, it's worth talking about larger speakers – we're happy to advise you on that.

Why buy the AVM AS 30.3 set in Cellini Chrome at HD Zürisee?

Because a complete system should suit your room, and a chrome-plated front especially needs to suit your décor. As an authorised AVM dealer in Wädenswil, we advise you on model, speakers and cabling; network setup and service are handled by our technician Mauri.
