The 38 mm ring radiator tweeter extends far beyond the audible range while remaining remarkably low in distortion; below it, a dedicated 150 mm midrange driver with a mineral-fibre cone takes on the most important range – voices, transients, cymbals – without having to do any bass duty. That's handled by two further 150 mm drivers with long linear excursion. The FusedMASS cabinet is, in places, built up from as many as six bonded material layers with a damping layer, plus heavy internal bracing. The PurePHASE crossover is built with heavy-duty coils, low-resonance capacitors and non-inductive resistors on a fibreglass board, ensuring correct phase alignment and wide dispersion. With 4 ohms and 87 dB sensitivity it's uncomplicated, and Gato recommends 50 to 250 watts; an amplifier with plenty of current reserve still pays off. It stands freely on its spikes and needs some distance from the rear wall.
