denon-spk611-hdmi-8k-upgrade-kit
Denon SPK611/8500E1 HDMI 8K Upgrade Kit

The Denon SPK611/8500E1 is the official upgrade kit for the AVC-X8500H and AVR-X8500H: a new HDMI board that brings the HDMI input and both monitor outputs to full HDMI 2.1 functionality – 8K/60 Hz and 4K/120 Hz instead of the original factory specification.

Why this is even a topic: the X8500H came onto the market before 8K TVs and the 120 Hz modes of current game consoles had become established. If you want to keep the flagship and still stay at the current home cinema frontier, you don't have to buy new – Denon has planned an upgrade kit rather than a model change for exactly this case. That's, with respect, more generous than what you're used to from many manufacturers.

Straight talk: this kit is not a plug-in module for DIY installation. It replaces a board inside the device and belongs in professional hands – with us, our technician Mauri takes care of that. Get in touch if you want to upgrade your X8500H; we'll organise the installation and test the device thoroughly afterwards before it goes back to you.

Our verdict: worthwhile for anyone running an X8500H in their home cinema who wants to add new sources with 8K or 4K/120 – buying a new receiver for that would be unnecessary.

Compatible with: Denon AVC-X8500H, AVR-X8500H

HDMI input: 1× HDMI IN 7, now with 8K/60 Hz and 4K/120 Hz passthrough

HDMI outputs: 2× HDMI OUT Monitor 1/2, now with 8K/60 Hz and 4K/120 Hz passthrough

Output level: not applicable (pure HDMI board upgrade, no audio outputs)

Headphone output: not present

Installation: by qualified technician/service centre only, no DIY installation

Note: device settings are reset to factory defaults during installation

Included: 8K HDMI board, bracket, cable holder, quick guide

Frequently asked questions

Can I install the SPK611 kit myself?
No. It replaces an internal board in the X8500H and needs to be installed by a professional.
