denon-ceol-n12dab-kompaktanlage-schwarz
Denon CEOL N12DAB Compact System, Black (Each)

The Denon CEOL N12DAB is an all-in-one compact system that combines a CD player, DAB+/FM tuner and HEOS network streaming with a matching pair of speakers in one compact concept.

Instead of five separate devices and a tangle of cables, you get a chain from a single source: receiver and speakers are matched to each other, and everything is controlled via one app instead of five remotes. For a living room, office or second system, that's exactly the kind of convenience a piecemeal collection of gear rarely offers.

Why the CEOL N12DAB?

Because it manages the balancing act between "simple" and "genuinely good-sounding". Two amplifier channels with 65 watts per channel (4 Ω) drive the included 2-way speaker pair with noticeable headroom – nothing throttles prematurely if things need to get louder. Via HDMI ARC, the system also takes over TV sound, with no separate amplifier needed.

The range of sources is unusually large for a compact system: CD, DAB+/FM, a phono input for your turntable, Bluetooth with aptX, and HEOS Built-in with AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Tidal, Deezer and internet radio. If you don't want a subscription, you can still start listening right away – via CD, radio or your own turntable.

What you hear and get

A round, warm stereo sound that works just as well at room volume as it does for a livelier evening with guests. Via the HEOS app, the system slots seamlessly into a multiroom system if a Denon Home speaker joins the bedroom later.

Who is the CEOL N12DAB suited to (and who isn't it for)?

Ideal for anyone who wants a single, tidy system for the living room, office or shared flat – with CD collection, radio and streaming all under one roof. Plain talk: if you're after high-end stereo with freely chosen floorstanding speakers, you're better off with a classic integrated amplifier plus your own speakers – the CEOL speakers are matched to the housing and not freely interchangeable.

Our verdict

The CEOL N12DAB is the kind of compact system you set up once and then simply use for years. Honestly: most second systems don't fail because of the sound, but because of too many remote controls – and that's exactly what the N12DAB clears up. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil, we'll advise you on whether the CD tray, phono input and HEOS connectivity fit your everyday life.

Technical data

Type: all-in-one compact system with CD player, DAB+/FM tuner and HEOS streaming

Output power: 2 × 65 W (4 Ω)

Speakers: 2-way bass-reflex pair, 12 cm woofer/midrange, 3 cm tweeter (included)

CD player: CD, CD-R/RW, MP3, WMA

Radio: DAB/DAB+/FM with RDS

Streaming: HEOS Built-in, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Tidal, Deezer, internet radio (TuneIn)

Bluetooth: yes, with aptX

HDMI: 1× HDMI ARC for TV sound

Inputs: 1× phono (MM), additional analogue inputs

Output level: speaker outputs fixed (internal amplifier drives the included pair); plus 1× subwoofer pre-out

Headphone output: yes

Receiver dimensions (W × H × D): 280 × 108 × 305 mm

Receiver weight: 3.4 kg

Colour: Black

What's included: RCD-N12DAB receiver, speaker pair, remote control, antennas, power cable, speaker cable, quick start guide

Frequently asked questions

Does the CEOL N12DAB absolutely need a streaming subscription?
No. CD, DAB+/FM radio and the phono input all work entirely without a subscription. Spotify Connect, Tidal or Deezer are an option for anyone who wants to use them – not a requirement for good sound.

Can I connect a turntable?
Yes, the built-in phono input for MM cartridges lets you connect a turntable directly, with no separate phono preamplifier needed.

Can the CEOL N12DAB be integrated into a multiroom system?
Yes. Via HEOS Built-in it joins an existing Denon Home multiroom system and can be controlled and played in sync together with other HEOS devices.

Can the system also serve as TV speakers?
Yes, via the HDMI ARC connection, the CEOL N12DAB takes over TV sound directly from the TV remote – making an additional soundbar purchase unnecessary for most living rooms.

Why buy the Denon CEOL N12DAB from HD Zürisee?
Because a compact system has to convince in everyday use, not just on paper.
