daliepikore9white
DALI Epikore 9 Floorstanding Speakers, Gloss White (Pair)

The DALI Epikore 9 is a 4-way floorstanding speaker from the Danish Epikore series with an EVO-K hybrid tweeter and dual 20 cm bass – in this version under a pure, multi-layer polished Gloss White.

White is the newest finish in the Epikore range, and it has a practical advantage: a 1.31-metre-tall tower looks noticeably lighter in a bright lacquer than its actual 64 kilograms. Underneath the lacquer sits the same technology as in every Epikore 9 variant – tweeter module, 6.5-inch midrange driver, two 8-inch woofers with SMC Gen 2 magnet system, all made in Denmark.

Why the Epikore 9?

Because four ways are more than a number on a spec sheet. Every frequency range gets its own specialist, split at 400, 3,100 and 12,500 Hz. The hybrid module made of a 35 mm dome and planar magnetostat reaches up to 34 kHz, the two 20 cm woofers reach down to 29 Hz. Nothing in between is left unattended.

What you hear

Precision without coldness. The Epikore 9 resolves very finely, yet never sounds analytical – that Danish school of thought. With large orchestras the order stays intact where smaller speakers have long since given up. With 88 dB sensitivity and 4 Ω nominal impedance it has a healthy appetite; DALI states 40 to 500 watts as a sensible range. HD Zürisee in Wädenswil helps you work out which amplifier within that range actually fits.

Who is the Epikore 9 suitable for?

Let's be clear: for large, well-furnished rooms from about 30 square metres upwards – and for people willing to spend a few weekends on placement. In small rooms or on an underpowered amplifier, plenty of potential goes to waste. But if you have the space and a proper amp, you almost certainly won't need another speaker afterwards.

Our verdict

In Gloss White, the Epikore 9 is the most homely variant of a very serious design – large, but surprisingly unobtrusive to look at. The specialist press confirms that the technology behind it delivers: "Recommended Reference Component" at SoundStage! Hi-Fi, February 2025.

Technical data

Design: 4-way, bass reflex

Frequency range: 29 – 34,000 Hz (±3 dB)

Sensitivity: 88 dB (2.83 V / 1 m)

Nominal impedance: 4 Ω

Maximum SPL: 112 dB

Tweeter: EVO-K hybrid module – 1 × 35 mm soft-dome + 1 × 10 × 55 mm planar magnetostat

Midrange: 1 × 6.5 inch (16.5 cm), Clarity Cone

Woofer: 2 × 8 inch (20 cm), Clarity Cone, SMC Gen 2

Driver layout: tweeter module on top, midrange below it, the two woofers below that

Crossover frequencies: 400 / 3,100 / 12,500 Hz

Recommended amplifier power: 40 – 500 W

Connection: bi-wiring terminal

Dimensions (H × W × D): 1310 × 422 × 554 mm

Weight: 64 kg each

Finish: gloss white (series also available in black, walnut, maroon)

What's included: pair of speakers, 2 magnetic grilles, magnetic spikes, floor protection pads, bi-wiring links, manual

Frequently asked questions

Does the Epikore 9 in Gloss White suit bright living spaces?

Yes, that's exactly what this finish is made for. The pure white under piano lacquer visually lightens a 1.31-metre-tall tower and harmonises with bright walls, oak floors and plenty of daylight. The grilles are magnetic and lift off without a trace – without them, the speaker shows off its four drivers.

How much amplifier power does the Epikore 9 need?

DALI states 40 to 500 watts. But what matters isn't the wattage figure so much as stability at 4 Ω: two 20 cm woofers per side draw a fair amount of current under transient load. An amplifier with a strong power supply sounds more composed driving this speaker than a pure spec-sheet monster with a high rated output.

How many ways does the Epikore 9 really have?

Four. DALI crosses over at 400, 3,100 and 12,500 Hz, giving four branches: two 8-inch woofers, one 6.5-inch midrange driver, the 35 mm soft-dome, and above it the 10 × 55 mm planar magnetostat. So the treble range itself is split again – that's the core idea of the EVO-K module.

Why buy the Epikore 9 in white from HD Zürisee?

Because with us you have a contact who actually knows the speaker.
