canton-movie-200-5-1-heimkinosystem-schwarz
Canton Movie 200 5.1 Home Cinema System, Black

The Canton Movie 200 is a 5.1 speaker set made up of four satellites, a centre, and an active subwoofer, delivering a complete home cinema foundation in compact form.

Four small boxes, a centre, and a subwoofer in the box – that's basically half the surround system done already. What's missing is an amplifier to drive the satellites; Canton has its matching Smart Amp 5.1 separately in its lineup, but you can also pair it with any AV receiver that has five speaker outputs.

Why the Canton Movie 200?

Because a move from stereo to surround rarely fails on sound, but on space and effort. The satellites measure just 9 × 12 × 11 centimetres and hang unobtrusively on the wall left, right, and rear thanks to the included wall brackets. The active subwoofer takes care of the bass, while the satellites and centre handle dialogue and effects – without any piece of furniture losing space anywhere.

What you get

4 identical satellites for front and surround

1 centre speaker for dialogue

1 active subwoofer for the bass

Wall brackets for all satellites and the centre

Who is the Movie 200 for?

For anyone who wants to switch from TV sound or a simple soundbar to real 5.1 surround, without shelves full of boxes. Plain talk: the satellites and centre are passive, so you definitely need an amplifier or AV receiver alongside them – without one, the set stays silent. If you want as compact an all-round package as possible and order the amplifier along with it, you're in exactly the right place; if you'd rather have larger floorstanding speakers up front, you're better off looking at individual components.

Our verdict

An honest entry-level set: small enough to disappear in any living room, complete enough to play 5.1 right away – as soon as an amplifier is added. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil we tell you beforehand which amp fits, instead of leaving you alone with half a box.

Technical data

Type: 5.1 speaker set, 4 satellites + centre passive, 1 subwoofer active

Satellites: 4× each 9 × 12 × 11 cm (W × H × D)

Centre: 1× 20 × 9 × 11 cm (W × H × D)

Subwoofer: 1× active, 24 × 43 × 40 cm (W × H × D)

Frequency response satellites/centre: 120–25,000 Hz

Frequency response subwoofer: 33–150 Hz

Crossover frequency: 4,500 Hz fixed (satellites/centre); 65–150 Hz adjustable (subwoofer)

Nominal impedance: 4–8 Ω

Sensitivity (2.83 V/1 m): 85 dB

Finish: black

Total weight: 14.4 kg

Sales unit: 1 system (4 satellites, 1 centre, 1 subwoofer) – the price applies to the complete set

Important: satellites and centre are passive and require an external amplifier or AV receiver (e.g. Canton Smart Amp 5.1)

Scope of delivery: 4 satellites, 1 centre, 1 active subwoofer, wall brackets, instruction manual

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an extra amplifier for the Movie 200?

Yes. The satellites and centre are passive; only the subwoofer has its own amplifier. For the remaining four channels you need an AV receiver or Canton's own Smart Amp 5.1, which additionally brings HDMI and streaming. Tell us what you already have and we'll tell you whether it fits.

Can I hang the satellites on the wall?

Yes, the matching wall brackets are included. Just as well you can place the satellites on a shelf or sideboard – the compact 9 × 12 × 11 centimetre design makes both possible, without them standing out much.

Is the Movie 200 enough for a large living room?

For small to medium rooms, yes. The subwoofer handles down to 33 Hz, but the compact satellites are designed more for near-field listening than for large, open floor plans. From around 25 square metres, it's worth talking about the larger Movie 400 – we're happy to work through that with you.

Does the Movie 200 work with my existing TV?

Yes, the set plays independently of the TV model – the connection runs through the amplifier, which pulls the sound from the TV via HDMI ARC or optical and distributes it across the five channels. We'll quickly clarify on the phone which connection on your device is the right one.

Why buy the Canton Movie 200 from HD Zürisee?

Because a surround set only really works with the right amplifier and clean channel calibration – something we've had down since the nineties. Our technician Mauri delivers and sets up the system on site for you on request.
