bfly-audio-powerbase-geraetebasis
bFly-Audio PowerBase – Device Base with Grounding

The bFly-Audio PowerBase is a device base with a bamboo core that additionally drains electrosmog from your equipment via a grounding module.

It combines two topics that are often handled separately in practice: mechanical decoupling and electrical interference from high-frequency radiation from WiFi, phones and the electronics themselves.

Why the PowerBase?

At its core is a three-layer bamboo build, a material with remarkably good audiophile properties. The standard feet are the PRO feet, with a total of four integrated absorber layers of Sorbothane, rubber and two differently thick layers of the proven cork-rubber granulate. But the real highlight sits on the underside: an aluminium plate connected via a grounding module to a grounded wall socket, draining off high-frequency interference that would otherwise cloud your sound.

What you hear

Alongside the familiar bFly calm from the PRO feet, users in specialist tests report an additional, clearly audible reduction in electrosmog effects – finer resolution, less background noise floor, a cleaner soundstage.

Who is the PowerBase for (and who isn't it for)?

Especially worthwhile for source components, DACs and preamps in rooms with heavy WiFi and radio exposure, where interference is a real issue. Bottom line: if you're after pure mechanical decoupling without the grounding function, the cheaper BaseTwo does the job too – the PowerBase's grounding module is a genuine bonus, but not a must for every system.

Our verdict

The PowerBase won an award from IMAGE HIFI in 2016 – rightly so, since the combination of bamboo core, PRO feet and grounding module is rare in this form. If you already have a fully dialed-in chain and are still chasing that last bit of noise, you'll find a very effective base here. We're happy to walk you through how to connect the grounding module correctly at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil, no rush.

Technical data

Type: device base with grounding module against electrosmog

Material: three-layer bamboo core, aluminium plate on the underside (grounding connection)

Height: 64 mm

Colours: Black or Natural Bamboo

Feet: PRO, 4 integrated absorber layers (Sorbothane, rubber, 2× cork-rubber granulate), height-adjustable

Sizes: S 25×30 cm, M 44×35 cm, L 50×40 cm, XL 56×46 cm

Award: IMAGE HIFI Award 2016

Manufacturer: bFly-Audio, Germany

Included: 1 device base incl. High-frequency radiation that accumulates on your equipment is drained off in a controlled way, instead of showing up in the sound.

Do I need an electrician for the grounding?

No, the connection is made via an ordinary grounded socket and requires no installation. If you have questions about correct handling, we're happy to show you directly at our store.

What's the difference to the BaseTwo?

The BaseTwo offers the same mechanical concept with aluminium plate and PRO feet, but without the grounding function. The PowerBase combines that with the additional grounding module against electrosmog – which is why it's priced accordingly higher.

Which devices benefit most from the PowerBase?

Sensitive source components such as DACs, streamers and preamps that react to interference signals benefit the most. On pure power amps without digital signal processing, the effect is generally smaller.

Why buy the bFly-Audio PowerBase at HD Zürisee?

We look together with you at whether the grounding module really helps in your setup before you invest – honest assessment instead of sales pressure, from our experience in Wädenswil.
