aktion-tannoy-stirling-gr-vorfuehrmodell
Special: Tannoy Stirling GR Floorstanding Speaker, Walnut (Pair) – Demo Unit

The Tannoy Stirling GR is a 2-way floorstanding speaker from the Prestige Gold Reference series, with a 10-inch Dual Concentric driver in an 85-litre oiled walnut cabinet.

This offer is for our demo unit from the showroom in Wädenswil. It is a one-off (one pair): technically flawless, fully functional and in absolutely immaculate, as-new condition. Instead of CHF 6,399.–, you get the pair for CHF 5,399.–, while stocks last. That is a saving of CHF 1,000.–. The demo unit has no original packaging. We grant 3 months' warranty on this pair. Pick-up in Wädenswil or delivery as usual.

The Stirling GR is the entry point into the Prestige world, and the only place in this series where "entry-level" doesn't sound like a compromise. Handcrafted cabinet, inlays, wood wax included: Tannoy doesn't do things by halves, even with its smallest model.

Why the Stirling GR?

It brings the big Tannoy sound into a format that fits a normal Swiss living room: 85 cm tall, 40 cm wide, 23 kilos per speaker. The Dual Concentric driver forms a true point source, the Tulip waveguide provides symmetrical dispersion. 91 dB efficiency makes it uncomplicated for amplifier matching.

What you hear

A soundstage that pulls you into the music instead of performing it for you. Voices sit centred and full-bodied, piano and brass get bite. The bass reaches surprisingly deep for the cabinet's size. The front-mounted Distributed Port System keeps it pleasantly forgiving when it comes to placement.

Who is the Stirling GR suited for?

For medium-sized rooms from around 18 m², for vinyl, jazz, classical and voices, and for tube amplifiers. Plain talk: if you mostly want to play modern rock, metal or electronic music loud, go for the Turnberry instead. The Stirling is a fine-detail artist, not a battering ram. And because this is a single demo pair: once it's gone, it's gone.

Our verdict

The Stirling GR is the best proof that the Prestige series isn't a pure status symbol. As a demo unit, you get character, efficiency and craftsmanship at a price you won't see on a new pair. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil, we'll help you find the right amplifier to go with it – here, it's especially worth the effort.

Technical data

Type: 2-way floorstanding speaker, Distributed Port System

Driver: 10-inch (250 mm) Dual Concentric, paper cone with double-cloth surround

Tweeter: aluminium-magnesium dome in Tulip waveguide

Frequency response: 39 Hz – 25 kHz (–6 dB)

Sensitivity: 91 dB (2.83 V / 1 m)

Impedance: 8 ohms

Power handling: 340 W peak

Recommended amplifier power: 30 – 150 W

Connections: gold-plated bi-wiring terminals, fifth post for grounding

Cabinet volume: 85 litres

Finish: oiled walnut veneer with inlays, metal trim strips

Dimensions (W × H × D): 397 × 850 × 368 mm

Weight: 23 kg per speaker

Condition: demo unit, as new, no original packaging

Warranty (demo unit): 3 months

Included: bi-wire jumpers, Prestige wood wax (no original packaging)

Frequently asked questions

What does "demo unit" mean for this Tannoy Stirling GR?
The pair stood in our showroom in Wädenswil and is a one-off. It's technically flawless, fully functional and as new, but without original packaging. While stocks last.

How long is the warranty on this demo unit?
We grant 3 months' warranty on this pair from the date of purchase. That's shorter than on a new unit, but covers the first months in which technical faults would typically show up.

Does a tube amplifier suit the Tannoy Stirling GR?
Very much so. 91 dB efficiency at an easygoing 8 ohms is practically made for tubes with 20 to 50 watts. A good transistor amp works just as well, of course.

How much wall distance does the Stirling GR need?
Thanks to its front-firing reflex ports, it can sit closer to the wall than most floorstanders. 20 to 40 cm is a good starting point.

From what room size does the Stirling GR make sense?
From around 18 m² it plays in a balanced way, staying in command up to about 30 m². We're happy to give your room a concrete assessment.

Why buy this Tannoy demo unit from HD Zürisee?
Because you get the speaker with full support at a bargain price.
