A coloured touchscreen with a volume ring and a headphone jack up front, terminals for passive speakers round the back: everything from TV sound to your hi-res library runs through this one unit. Internationally, Cabasse now also sells the same unit as the AMP 240 S – same technology, different name on the box.

Why the Cabasse Abyss?

Because three components, three power cables and two RCA leads rarely sound better than one properly matched unit. 2 × 120 watts at 8 ohms and 2 × 215 watts at 4 ohms are enough for practically any bookshelf speaker and most floorstanders, and the Class D power stages stay cool and quiet while doing it. The HDMI eARC input also makes the Abyss the most elegant solution for better TV sound – no soundbar needed, one that still looks like a soundbar on the shelf. And since the 2025 firmware update it's Roon Ready: if you manage your library through Roon, you add the Abyss as an endpoint with no detour.

What you hear

A sound that's more grown-up than the chassis size suggests: controlled bass, clean midrange, no added harshness. Cabasse adds two of its own DSP tools – DEAP for multi-band equalisation, DFE for bass control at low volumes. On top of that, you tell the app where the speakers stand and where you sit, and a two-band equaliser fine-tunes from there; the Abyss doesn't do a microphone-based room measurement. With Cabasse speakers, stored profiles kick in; with other brands it plays just as readily.

Who is the Cabasse Abyss for?

For anyone who wants a full stereo setup with passive speakers but not a rack full of boxes. For living rooms where the TV joins in. And for anyone who'd rather run their system from an app and a touchscreen than from a stack of remotes. Straight talk: if you already own a good preamp and a power amp, you're buying twice here. For vinyl you need an external phono stage – there's no phono input. And the Abyss doesn't have a full-range preamp output either – it's a destination, not a stopover.

Our verdict

A lifestyle device with serious technology underneath – the rarer of the two combinations. The Abyss is a genuine stereo integrated amplifier with Class D power stages delivering 2 × 120 watts at 8 ohms and 2 × 215 watts at 4 ohms. That's enough to drive passive bookshelf and floorstanding speakers with no extra power amp. A network player and converter already sit in the same chassis, so a separate streamer becomes unnecessary.

Can I connect the Abyss to my TV?

Yes. Via the HDMI eARC input you connect the Abyss directly to your TV and hear the sound through your stereo speakers instead of the flat TV chassis. If you don't have an eARC connection, use the optical S/PDIF input instead. For a movie night, that's the biggest audible difference in the whole living room.

Can I connect headphones to the Cabasse Abyss?

Yes. There's a 3.5 mm jack on the front for headphones. That lets you keep listening late at night without disturbing the speakers – you adjust the volume as usual via the ring on the display or in the app. That doesn't make the Abyss a dedicated headphone amp, but the output is more than adequate for common models.

Does the Abyss measure the room automatically?

No, there's no microphone-based room measurement. Instead, you tell the StreamCONTROL app where the speakers stand and where you sit; DEAP and the two-band equaliser adjust the sound accordingly. That noticeably smooths out corner placements and TV-cabinet setups, but it doesn't replace an actual room-acoustics measurement. For tricky rooms, we're happy to take a look at the situation beforehand.

Does the Abyss have a preamp output for an external power amp?

No. The Abyss has a subwoofer output but no full-range preamp output. It's designed as a self-contained complete unit: speakers straight onto the terminals, done. If you want to keep using an existing power amp, you're better served by a separate preamp – just tell us what you already have.

Do I need a streaming subscription?

No. Streaming over WLAN, Ethernet, AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth is the convenient option, not a requirement. Via the optical input, two RCA inputs and the USB-A port you play a TV, CD player or a hard drive, and internet radio costs nothing anyway. A subscription remains an option.

Why buy the Cabasse Abyss at HD Zürisee?

Because we tell you which speakers really suit the Abyss – and which would leave it under-challenged. The stand is a metal construction with a 25-by-25-centimetre base and 6.4 kilograms of dead weight, the speaker weighs 8 kilograms. On carpet, a level surface is recommended so the base doesn't wobble.

How do I get stereo with this set?

By getting two of them. Each set contains one speaker and one stand; in the StreamCONTROL app you assign left and right channels to two Akoya. In Roon's partner overview, the Akoya is listed both as Roon Ready and as Roon Tested. One thing up front, so nothing goes wrong: The Pearl is sold individually. Two spheres make classic stereo, one on its own plays in a side room or as a mono statement.

Why The Pearl?

A 25 cm woofer meets a 13 cm coaxial driver for mids and highs – all three ways sit stacked on one axis and radiate from a single acoustic centre. That gives you a coherent, pinpoint-accurate stage, and the spherical shape spreads the sound evenly around the room instead of firing it in one direction. CRCS room correction picks up, via a built-in microphone, what the room is doing to the bass, and straightens it back out. Bottom line: this sphere delivers more level and depth than most people give it credit for.

What you hear

A bass that, per the manufacturer, reaches down to 14 Hz and still stays tight, plus vocals that sit exactly between the two spheres. It plays high-res files up to 24 bit/192 kHz straight from the network, via LAN or Wi-Fi, with Roon Ready and AirPlay 2 on board. Streaming is an option here, not a requirement: the optical input, analogue RCA and USB-A bring in your TV, CD player, turntable (via phono stage) or your own music collection, and internet radio runs without a subscription. Control is via the StreamCONTROL app or the included Bluetooth remote – no manual required.

Who is The Pearl for – and who isn't it for?

For listeners who want high-end sound and clean lines without a stack of gear, in living rooms up to about 35 m². Honestly: if you just want quiet kitchen background music, the smaller Akoya or Myuki serves you better. And if you need to fill a hall, look towards the Pelegrina. The stand is a fixed part of the set, you don't need to order it separately. For a stereo pair you need two of these sets.

How tall is the stand?

84 cm, with a footprint of 38 × 38 cm and 15 kg of weight. That puts the sphere's coaxial driver roughly at ear height when you're sitting. The cables run invisibly through both stand tubes, so nothing is visible at the connection panel.

Do I need two sets for stereo?

Yes. Each Pearl is a complete system with its own amplifiers, converter and streamer and is sold individually. Two sets give you a stereo pair at identical height, which you pair in the app. A single set works convincingly as a mono solution in a side room.

Why a stand at all?

Because the sphere radiates all around and sounds most open when freestanding. On a sideboard, the surface reflects the sound, and in a corner the bass builds up. The stand brings the driver to ear height and creates distance from walls, so CRCS calibration has less to straighten out.

How long does the warranty last?

The statutory manufacturer warranty applies. Anyone who registers the set with Cabasse within 60 days of purchase also receives an extended warranty of five years on the drivers and two years on the electronics. You don't need more of a system than that – no rack, no separate amplifier, no cable mess.

Why the Cabasse The Pearl Keshi?

Because Pearl technology is packed into the smallest enclosure in the family. The satellites run the coaxial Dom55 mid/tweeter, the subwoofer has a 17 cm HELD woofer that reaches down to 30 Hz. Cabasse specifies 1050 W RMS for the system – 450 W of that for the bass, 300 W each for the two satellites. For a system that fits on half a metre of sideboard, that's not nothing. CRCS room correction measures via a built-in microphone and irons out whatever your living room does acoustically.

What you hear

A surprisingly grown-up stereo image: vocals sit cleanly in the centre, instruments can be located, and the bass seems to come from nowhere – because nobody expects that much from such a small sphere. The wide dispersion of the coaxial satellites takes away the sweet-spot fussiness of the sound.

Streaming is an option, not a requirement: Qobuz, Tidal, Deezer, Spotify, Napster and internet radio run over Wi-Fi or Ethernet, AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth are on board, and if you maintain a Roon library, you can add the Keshi as a Roon Ready zone. Via the optical input or the jack you play music without any account at all.

Who is the Keshi for?

For small to medium rooms, city apartments, bedrooms, or as a second system that shouldn't stand out visually. Bottom line: if you want to fill an open gallery or run home-cinema levels, go for The Pearl or The Pearl Akoya instead. And if you listen to vinyl, you need a phono preamp and go in via the jack input – there's no line-level RCA input.

Our verdict

The most compact Pearl system, and still a fully-fledged setup. Services like Qobuz, Tidal, Deezer or Spotify are an option, not a requirement.

How big a room can the Keshi handle?

The Keshi is built for small to medium rooms. Thanks to the wide dispersion of the spherical satellites and the automatic room correction in the subwoofer, it fills such rooms evenly without you having to hunt for a sweet spot. For large, open living areas we'd recommend The Pearl or The Pearl Akoya instead.

Can I connect my TV to the Keshi?

Yes, via the optical S/PDIF input. That routes the TV sound through the subwoofer and the two satellites without needing a soundbar. The Keshi has no HDMI ARC socket – so check whether your TV has an optical output. Alternatively, use the analogue 3.5 mm jack.

Does the Keshi work with Roon?

Yes, the Keshi is listed as Roon Ready with Roon Labs and appears in your Roon setup as its own zone. That lets you control it from the same library as your other devices. Without Roon you can use the Cabasse StreamCONTROL app, AirPlay 2 or Spotify Connect instead.

Can I later expand the Keshi into a multiroom system?

Yes. The coaxial Dom55 mid/tweeter sits in the satellite sphere, the 17 cm HELD woofer in the subwoofer goes down to 30 Hz. Cabasse names 1050 W of Class-D power, split between 450 W in the bass and twice 300 W in the satellites – so the system doesn't run out of breath at higher levels either. A calibration microphone is already built into the subwoofer.

Where's the best place to put the subwoofer?

The spherical subwoofer is much less fussy about placement than a classic cube sub. A free position on the floor, not directly in a corner, is a good starting point. After that, CRCS room correction measures automatically via the microphone and evens out any excess. If in doubt, we'll plan the placement with you.

Does the Keshi support Roon and MQA?

Roon yes, MQA no. That's why the sphere doesn't wander across the sideboard when things get deep. A built-in microphone measures the room (CRCS), and the electronics adapt the frequency response to the placement. Since the spring 2025 firmware update, the Myuki is also certified Roon Ready. It plays hi-res up to DSD 128. Streaming stays an option and not a requirement: connect your TV via the optical input, any analogue source via the 3.5 mm jack, and internet radio costs nothing. Cabasse sells the Myuki as a single unit that plays in mono on its own. The spherical front radiates evenly into the room instead of aiming only at the sweet spot. The automatic CRCS room correction measures your four walls via a built-in microphone and takes the boom out of the bass. Each sphere brings its own streamer, DAC and four amplifiers with a combined 3700 W RMS. A preamp or power amp is unnecessary – power, network and a source are all you need. That makes the Pelegrina a complete system in two speakers, with no rack and no cable clutter behind it. Cabasse offers the flagship exclusively as a stereo pair, while the smaller Pearl spheres are also available individually. Both cabinets have their own electronics and are calibrated to the room together. The official Cabasse price list also lists the Pelegrina explicitly as a pair.

Can I use the Pelegrina without a streaming subscription?

Yes. Services like Qobuz, Tidal, Deezer, Spotify or Napster can be added later – they're an option, not a requirement.

Does it make sense to add a subwoofer?

No. The large HELD woofer reaches down to 10 Hz, which leaves nothing missing in a living room. Cabasse also doesn't list a dedicated subwoofer output for the Pelegrina in the datasheet. Cabasse had the Pearl series certified via a firmware update in 2025; the Pearl Sub appears on the official Roon partner list as Roon Ready. So you integrate it directly as a zone in Roon. The set consists of one The Pearl active speaker and one The Pearl Stand in white, plus a Bluetooth remote, power cable and instructions. Cabasse sells the Pearl individually as a rule, because each sphere is a complete system. For stereo, you order two sets.

What are the stand's dimensions and weight?

The The Pearl Stand is 84 cm tall and stands on a footprint of 38 × 38 cm, at 15 kg own weight. It's made of metal in matte white. Both stand tubes carry the cables concealed, so power and signal cables stay out of sight.

Does the set also work in small rooms?

In rooms under about 20 m², a lot of headroom goes unused, but it still works. CRCS calibration reins in excessive bass when the speaker sits close to a wall. From around 25 m² it becomes really cohesive, and up to about 35 m² the Pearl feels visibly at home.

Can I buy the stand separately later on?

Yes, the The Pearl Stand is also available on its own. As a set, you get it in a colour that matches the sphere right away, saving you a second order and the colour question. Get in touch if you already own a Pearl and are just looking for the stand.

Which streaming services run directly on the Pearl?

Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer, Napster and Spotify via Spotify Connect are built in directly, along with internet radio via vTuner. Cabasse doesn't support Amazon Music natively. Via AirPlay 2, Roon or Bluetooth you can additionally play back anything running on your phone or computer.

Why buy The Pearl with stand at HD Zürisee?

Because we think of the set as a whole: speaker, height, wall distance and room all belong together.
